  1. .

I started in Calcutta, went across the north to Jaisailmir, taking in Varanasi, Kajaraho, Agra, Delhi, Jaipur, Johdpur, etc.

Then down the west coast to Varkala int he south taking in Diu, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Cochin, Hampi etc.

Then across to Madras and up the east coast to Calcutta.

I'd do it all again in a flash...it was just great!

EDIT: I travelled by bus (on the roof) and train (and a coracle in Hampi)....Buy a copy of TRAINS AT A GLANCE available only from the 4 main stations Calcutta, Bombay, Madras and Delhi. It was an invaluable timetable for scheduled trains. I tavelled 2nd class fan, was very careful with my valuables and never had any problems. There is also air con available.

  2. anyway as you like. both have splendid places to visit.

try this for more details- http://www.tourisminindia.com/

  3. Try to schedule in an  Area that no-one will tell you about. - that known as the NorthEast - there are 7 states Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunchal Pradesh Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur. - they also include the neighboring Kingdom of Sikkim. Most plains Indians don't even know this area exists. It's Pristine, no caste, predominantly Christian. And try to  visit Kaziranga National Park for some Rhino and tiger wrangling. Do a search for "Wild Grass Resort" - It's a little dearer than most of India but fabulous. - Only place in India I found with toilets that work.

  5. Fly in to Delhi --> Rajasthan ( Jaiselmer,Jaipur etc) -->Mumbai--> Goa -->Kerala (Kochi) -->Hampi --> Madurai -->Chennai --> Orissa( Bhubaneswar, Konark,Puri) --> Kolkata -->North East ( Guawahi, Gangtok) --> Varanasi -->Agra-->Delhi -->Fly back.

The above rout covers most of the "must see" places in India. Try traveling by trains in between to feel the Indian life line .. lolz ....Most of India will be hot now a days and will rain cats and dogs in late July/Aug . So, plan accordingly .,.. Bon Voyage ..

  6. You should contact to a genuine travel company for your India tour, I have recently returned from India holiday.

So I would recommend an Indian travel company for your India trip, they would assist and guide you properly.

    Company website is http://www.iconindiatours.com

First of all you should start you tour from north India and end of the tour at south India

Best of luck your India tour.

  7. It depends on various factorssuch as:

    1)  Which is your port of disembarcation.

    2)  How many days you will be in India.

    3)  What types of places you want to see.

    4) Time of your visit.
