It's been a year since I had my daughter and I feel awful about the way I look. I was looking at old pics and it made me very depressed. Not to mention that my nephew asked if I had another baby in my belly. I need to lose weight but am very frustrated every time I try. What should or can I do to not give up so easy? I used to be hot and now I'm a big fat mess!!! Help!!

  1. Exercise, go to the gym and work out, do crunches and watch what you eat.

    Good Luck!!

  2. Amen sister! I feel the same way except my kid is 5 years old. Even though I've lost most of the weight, my body is still a complete trainwreck!! I didn't realize the impact having a baby would have on my body- I mean, of course I knew I'd gain weight but I really didn't realize what I'd be left with afterwards lol. I used to be really hot too. Sigh. Sorry I don't have any great advice, I just wanted to say I can relate. Hang in there! =]

  3. just keep yourself moving, my daughter is 6 months old and i gained 40 pounds with her and i lost it all in the first 5 months--i take her for a walk just about every day--a good paced walk too, i watch what i eat and i do enjoy eating and drinking the slim fast shakes and bars--they are pretty good...watch your fat intake as well..good luck to you

  4. Poor thing.  I know it must be hard to see the way you used to look and then see the reality, whatever that reality is (and the reality may be much better than you think it is!!).  If anything, those old pictures can be motivation, though.  You know you used to look like that so how hard can it be to get back to that?  Now, I'm not really one to talk because I have absolutely zero willpower when it comes to denying myself food and close to zero interest in working out.  Fortunately, for the time being, nature is on my side and I don't have to work too hard to keep myself looking decent (though I wouldn't want to jump into a swimsuit at the moment, I promise).  However, I do go to Curves for their 30 minute work-out and I've found that it really helps to tone-up my body.  As for food, when I start to feel my clothes fitting a little more snug than they should, I just really try to minimize bad habits that I find myself getting into, like frequently going out for dinner and snacking a lot.  I always eat before I go grocery shopping so I don't impulsivelybuy things that appeal to me right at that moment.  And I just try to stay aware of myself.  If you had a baby within the last year, it's not surprising that you haven't had a ton of time to devote to yourself.  Don't beat yourself up, just start with small steps (maybe go for a brisk walk around the neigborhood with the baby 3x a week and substitute a bigger meal with something small like yogurt and granola) and see how you do.  Good luck to you.

  5. It's really hard to change your lifestyle, but it seems like you've made the first step. I, too, was disgusted by how I looked. I came across this website - sparkpeople.com last year and I was totally amazed. They offer nutrition and workout advice, as well as message boards, weight tracker, food tracker, etc. completely FREE. It helped me learn what the right things to eat were, how to exercise, etc. I lost 50 lbs my first 6 months on the site. Take a look at it, it's just amazing.

I'll warn you though- it's completely overwhelming at first, so take awhile to look around and get used to it. If you have any questions you can always jump in a message board and ask. You usually get answers really quickly.

  6. Try joining a gym that has groups or get a personal trainer. Sometimes you just need the motivation of someone pushing you or working with others.

Maybe if you have some other friends that want to lose weight (or even someone online) you can help motivate eachother.

The easiest thing to do is eat healthier foods. Whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta, chicken instead of steak, more seafood, etc. Limit your portions. If you eat and you're not hungry any more stop eating. It's much healthier to eat many small portions throughout the day than eating 3 large ones. Try to make breakfast your biggest meal and dinner your smallest since you're probably less active at night than during the day. Drink a lot of water and try taking a fiber supplement. A lot of stomach bloating can actually be caused by not having enough fiber.

And try jogging for 30 minutes a day. Even if you have to slow down and walk for half the time you'll eventually build up your stamina.

  7. learn to love yourself.

You are a mature women with a mature body.

  8. being healthy and looking great is all up to you and know one else. test your self and discipline yourself to eating better and working out.  by not trying, your only letting yourself down...so change your diet and start running or picking up a sport, and start slow. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months from eating healthy and running a mile at least a day.

  9. okay...you  cant helo it you had a baby! thats what happens...just if you want to go on a healthy diet!! dont be discusted with yourself i am sure you are still pretty...my mom has had 4 kids and she complains to! its not your guys's fault!! i am sure it will get better, if you want to go on a healthy diet, but whatever you do dont do it for other people, do it for yourself!! =]]
