  1. Discus is not about strength.  It's about footwork and quickness.  Size doesn't matter when throwing the disc, speed does.  Work on your form, and try to be as fast as possible.  Whenever I threw, I always said to myself that I needed to get quicker.  You can never spin too quickly while throwing the disc.  And remember that it is all about the speed that your arm is going when you release the disc....the faster your body is spinning, the faster your arm will go when releasing.

Also, work on flicking your index finger when releasing the disc; this can add a couple of feet to your throws.  The throwing angle can have an effect on your distance as well.  I always read that throwing it at 41 degrees is the best, but I always tried throwing it at around 30-35 degrees.  Never throw it at too high of an angle.

But, the most important thing to getting better at the discus is practice!  Once you throw enough, many of these things will begin to come naturally to you.  Good luck and have fun!

  2. Run faster!  Spin faster!

  3. Well I am a sprinter so I know a bit about the 100 meters. Your time is O.K. I am also a girl and I am able to run the 100 in 12 seconds. Some tips I have been taught about running this event is to stay on the balls of your feet throughout the race. Also to run through the finish line and have an explosive start. Make sure that you do not lose form during the race because you will decelerate if you do.
