I'm doing a report on patroclus + achilles, and it sed they were lovrs but Troy says theyre cousins and frends

which one is correct,

A. lovers

B. cousins

or

C. friends

  1. Do you mean the movie Troy?  A little friendly advice, never use Hollywood as a source for anything.  That movie in particular completely departed from the source material and the only thing the characters have in common with Homer's in the Iliad are the names.  

    Now, Patroclus and Achilles were indeed cousins and friends.  They grew up together and were as close as two people can be.  Achilles loved Patroclus.  Now, where the lines between brotherly love and romantic love was drawn is rather obscure.  Homer implies that there is some passion but never comes out and says it.


  2. They could have been all three...depends on what reference book you read. It wasn't uncommon to be all three back then, as we know.

  3. They were cousins and good friends for sure. Some say they were lovers too, but the "Iliad" doesn't say that.

  4. They were cousins. (PS: They say that patroclus looked so much like Achilles so maybe they were even brothers)
