I live in Angers, France currently, and I am planning an 8-9 day trip to Southern France and all of Italy. I'd like to see: Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, and Nice. I need some suggestions on sight-seeing and traveling. Also, is this too rushed?

I was thinking

Day 1-2 Rome

Day 2-3 Florence and Pisa

Day 4-5 Venice

Day 6 Milan

Day 7-8 Nice

  1. I think your itinery is a little too rushed but it is possible if your travelling by car Whilst you'll see lots of Italy, you'll experience nothing of Italy .When in Rome do as the Romans, take your time, after all there is always domani.

    Buon viaggio

p.s. don't forget Cinque Terre near La Spezia

  2. don't forget Cannes when you are in Nizza... and Monte Carlo as well... these cities are really close to Nizza and as charming as well...

  3. I think it's reasonable. My first trip to Italy was a Power Trip like this, and I have great memories and got to see A LOT!!

This is all very accessible by train. Make sure to check train times ahead of time. You don't want to plan on spending two days in Florence, but only have one train getting there. (Not likely, since such a large city...but) Also, consider traveling on night trains to give you more time in the cities.

I used the Let's Go Europe Guidebook (which can be found in English bookstores in France) when I traveled. It had great suggestions for sites, restaurants, etc.

    bon voyage!
