Question:

I'm doing it! Now what to write?

I asked a question the other day about feeling helpless, like none of the work I was doing was helping anyone: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=An02Cg3neYo3Ivh8lIm7nXTBFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20080310214136AAqy5gi

The replies I got were really helpful. Since then, I've decided to apply to a long-term overseas project (basically, the Canadian equivalent to the Peace Corps)! My bf would go with me if I'm accepted and luckily he was really supportive when I mentioned it to him - which is why I hadn't brought it up before! So thanks to everyone for their answers.

Anyway, now I'm writing the application and I need to write 300 words about (A) why I want to volunteer with them and (B) how it would help me in my personal and professional goals.

I do NOT have a way with words! I know why in my head, but I can't get it onto paper. Any tips? Or places I can look for help on getting it out well? I've got writer's block!

Thanks for any help! I'm really excited about this. :o)

  1. Since your boyfriend is so supportive perhaps he would be willing to jot down what you say when you talk about WHY you want to do it. then the two of you can peice it together or you can summarize it.

    some things to discuss:

-what exactly do you want to provide for others or how do you want to assist?

-what difference do you hope to make?

-why is this important for you.. for others..the community.

-describe some of your core values and how they mesh with the work you hope to accomplish.
