I am a college freshman, and this is the first time that I have ever had to do laundry. I'm not really sure what to do. Everything needs washed. Towels, jeans, t-shirts, and whites. I have Clorox 2 and Downy for the softener. How many loads do I have to do? Can I wash greys with whites? If I have a shirt that is mostly white with pink stripes going down it (button up) can I wash that with whites? I'm just kind of confused and I don't want my clothes to come out ruined. Will the clorox 2 hurt my colors at all? Thanks for the advice in advance.

  1. Wash whites separately in warm or hot. Wash jeans separately, they tend to fade.

Wash the towels separately on warm or hot. Most colors are safe to wash together in cold.

I think I'd wash the white and pink shirt separately first to see if it fades, wash it in cold.

I would only use the clorox on the pure whites. Buy another detergent to use on everything else.

  2. you want to have a dark pile (jeans and darker clothes, dark towels), a white pile (like socks and towels and such)and a colored pile (any color, including the white with the pink stripes). only use bleach for the white pile. clorox 2 i believe is safe on colors, read it to be sure. use it with all 3 piles. just throw a pile in the washer add the detergent/(bleach) and wash. the softner you add to the rinse cycle. which is a pain in the bum. i suggest finding a downy ball. (a little ball to put softner in and you just throw the ball in and it will open on it own during the rinse cycle.) and dont ever wash towels with sweat clothes. it makes lint balls galore. when its done just throw em in the dryer with a dryer sheet if you have them. and thats about it.

    not to hard.

  3. 1.  load 1!!  all your towels and sheets can go in this load. you can wash it on hot or warm.

    2. load 2!! anything that is pastel or white can go together. Undies etc can go in this load.

    3. load 3!! any thing that is jeans fabric in this load you can put  your khakies in here too.

    4. load 4!!!  RED!! never put anything red or purple with anything else. It always has to go separate.

Clorox 2 is fine to put in all loads. It is an oxygen bleach rather than a chlorine bleach. Put the fabric sovtener in the last rinse of the cycle or put  it in one of those little balls and toss in at the beginning.

ONE scoop or squirt of detergent does a whole load!!

Do not put lycra stuff in the dryer, Hang it to dry. The heat kills lycra. This means bras, panty or other elastic waist stuff, and any jeans with it in them, all this stuff has to be hung to dry.

  4. Sort your clothes as follow:

Towels and bedding in one load

T-shirts and underwear in one load

Wearing clothes sort by color (light things in one load and dark things

    in another)

Jeans sort by color (dark colored jeans in one load and lighter colored

    jeans in another).

Also I usually wash all my clothes in cold water except for the towels

and underwear in which I wash them in warm water .  You can

use most any type of laundry detergent and/or fabric softner in

the wash, I use Gain.  Good-luck.

  5. okay, when im doing laundry here's what i do. separate all your whites, and only whites into one pile. jeans and colored shirts are okay to go together as long as the shirts dont have red or pink in them, as the colors will stain your other clothing. when doing a load of pinks and reds(do these by themselves!! or they will bleed!)) do it in cold water, this lessens the chance the colors will bleed. as far as bleach, use it only on whites..unless you know of a safe color safe bleach. if your still unsure, call your mom; she did all your laundry before and wont mind giving you some pointers, besides, she'd be glad to have the chance to talk and know your doing alright..good luck.

  6. just call yo mama like u did when u lived at home but if she just dont answer heres how u do it

    always wash darks to gether

    wash brite colors to gether

and always wash your whites with the reds
