Bearing in mind i'll be doing it in the London Docks, so the water won't be clear, what would people recommend?

  1. I have swum in the Docks at the London Tri and the water is very cloudy, but then again, what is there to see under the water. There are no lines on the bottom to follow. If a foot or arm comes your way then you will see it about 2 inch from your face.

I would go for the biggest goggles you can get, not the small speedo pool type. If you do get a whack in the face they are a bit more stable and secure. (To avoid being hit I would start at the side nearer the back where its less crowded - though not too far back that you are swimming over slow swimmers). Also when you put your head out of the water to sight the buoys, with big goggles you can see round easier. Swimming in a straight line is a very big time and energy saver!

Yellow tints are better in dull conditions. Tints if its very bright. Clear is probably the best all round bet.

    Good luck

  2. I suggest fully transparent goggles, when you are swimming in the London Docks, you need to know whats infront of you, for all you know you could have a dead cat flying infront of your face.

Good luck in you triatholan , x

  3. i would recomend seeing which googles you like best. if they are completely clear you might have problems with the sun. so mabey you should get the ones with mirrors... you can see out perfectly but your don't get any glare
