  1. Have you tried joining your Local Family History Society? They might be the best place for advice on how to spend your money wisely (dunno how good this link is but here it is: http://www.ffhs.org.uk. Also, if you have a local history museum they might be able (and raring! if my experience is anything to go by) to help.

  2. i have exactly the same problem with my family tree ! my uncle does it mostly and he travels to the places of marriage, death , birth etc. Unfortunately we can ony trace my family so far before the records run out ! this is the problem

Try ancestry.com but this cost like £15 r something otherwise try the national archives or genealogy  forums genforum.genealogy.com!

You might be able to ask your parents about what they remember of they're older relations, or maybe even your grandparents??? then try working from there ! Good luck

  3. From ancestry.com, The Lawrence Family Tree.

Are you are the owner of this tree?

  4. That doesn't really tell us anything.  Too many people want to jump right in to the interesting stuff several hundred years ago without doing the early research and then find they are stuck.  You must do it painstakingly generation by generation starting with your parents and grandparents refusing to accept anyone you cannot prove is linked through marriage, birh or death certificates or some other provable information.

Names, places are all useless unless you can prove father and child, mother and child relationships.  If you have done all of this and have come to a standstill then you must just use social history to tell the story rather than family history.  This can be every bit as important in the story of the ordinary people of these islands.
