I'm dreaming vivid dreams nearly every night that I am rescuing different animals. What do they mean?

In nearly all of my dreams, I am flying. This has been going on since I was a little girl, so that is nothing too new. Usually I'm flying superman style with one fist out, blazing through the sky like a comet. I've dreamt on at least 5 or 6 occasions that I have been using my gift of flight to save animals. The one that is bugging me the most is this one: I am flying in a sitting position, (different than the usual comet style) and in my lap is a little red baby fox. It is sitting calmly in my lap because it knows that I am trying to save its life, from what I don't know. I see below my feet a beautiful forest, which is vibrantly green to the point of looking unreal. I start to talk soothingly to the fox as we make our descent, and then the dream ends. I had another dreams where I am saving dogs from what looks like an african villiage; I can see the destruction all around. There are rats, bears, foxes, dogs, cats, all sorts of animals in my dreams lately. What is this about?

  1. The flying aspect of your dream is a very positive symbol.  It indicates the freedom you feel in your life and you are open to a variety of experiences.  I would guess  you have many different hobbies and pursuits and do well with most of them.

The dreams of animals simply reflect another positive aspect of your caring about others and wanting to help whether they be animals or people.

Overall, you should be very pleased with these type dreams.  So many of the dreams listed here are very negative reflecting troubled past but yours is refreshing.

Let me know if this was helpful.

  2. Your dream certainly suggests a gentle caring nature where animals are concerned, as does your tender care for your dog recently lost.  I'm very sorry for your loss there, pets become so very dear to us and it's painful.

The theme of flight usually reveals some nearly euphoric sense of well being - in this case very possibly empowerment because unlike many who 'soar' in some vague sense, you are quite aware of your posture and in control very much.  And you perform to meaningful ends - there's no vaguery here as to your purpose.

Sitting in flight is of course unusual - but seems explainable: your recent loss would naturally leave you wanting to express tenderness toward creatures that could use your help.  In this case, the little fox is comforted and made to feel secure in your lap - as opposed to being whisked along under one elbow in a super-human breeze with the ground blazing past beneath him.  The forest is a lush, inviting place - just his cup of tea.  There he will find all that he needs.  It is a wild place - he will find a habitat far from harm's reach.  Oh, that it might be so for more innocent creatures!  That is the theme - and that seems to be your thought pattern where innocent creatures are concerned.

You even see an innocense in the 'disgusting' rat (or most would view them that way).  Of course we don't really like them around our foodstuffs, etc.  But, they are after all creatures doing what nature programmed them for - and are just as subject to abuse and wrongful treatment as any warm fuzzy critter.  We usually think of humane dispatch for these types - but your treatment is an extension of not just generally kind feelings, but in this case I believe an exceptional gesture stemming from the tenderness you feel toward your lost dog at this point.  You honor his memory in your kindness toward other living creatures.

The village with desolation and creatures in need of saving is a bold extension of the same thought pattern.  It is one of the heart, by the way - not just idle wishing.  The image may be 'concocted' and a synthesized projection by the mind, but you have these feelings deep inside.  They do seem amplified by the feelings of loss you have right now as well.

Two things then stand out very clearly:

    You are one who has confidence in the things you take on - this is evidenced by your control of powerful flight and what you do with it;

You now turn that confidence toward something important to you, especially at this time - you are of great heart for the innocents who too often fall to abuse or neglect.

It does not matter what the specific threat may be - there are enough to go around.  We see animals dumped - and killed - in their tiny, helpless youth all too often.  We want to save them but it's like the boy throwing star fish back in the water to keep them from parching - can't save 'em all, but THAT one won't die - it's a noble thing and good.  We can only do our best - and you strive in flight as if superhuman.  Bless you for that - you'll never reach them all, but you'll reach all you can I'm sure.

Your dog had a good and long life - that means lots of loving care from you.  Who would not want it to have been more?  Any who love such a creature would want more years, of course - but do think of the kindness and love he knew from you.  What else can a creature hope for?  It hurts to lose them - and your dreams about rescue are largely products of this sense of loss and a desire to reach him in kindness one more time.  If not him, then others - what a great heart you do have.

Was your dream of losing him truly prophetic?  I can't really know - but will suggest that because of how much you loved him and how close you were to him, sometimes things get 'understood' inside that we cannot really consciously fathom or act on to prevent, as much as we'd loved to have done so.  Nature runs its course and we are often just tearfully helpless bystanders in such times.  The dream likely came out of a subconscous registration of something to come - in that sense at least then it would be prophetic.

The critters in the bed - that's much like a visit from your old friend now gone, even if they are not the same creature that he was.  You would realize he's gone - but there are others connected to him in their own ways, and they come to you for comfort - and perhaps do comfort as well.  Unnerving at times?  It must be - but what's in your heart is what counts in this.

Again, I am very sorry for your loss.  What can one say other than that?  It is gratifying that he knew a master of such thought and heart though.  Perhaps realizing that can help your own feelings - your dream is suggesting you accept that gift - it is as if from your old friend.  Think of accepting it that way as you work through your grief - he'd want that if he could say it.

    All the best to you.

  3. that's pretty interesting.... i think you are just a very sensitive person that loves animals, and with new concerns in the news of wildfires/global warming that is endangering wildlife and animals you feel like you need to do something...

take action while you awake in what you can do.  volunteer at an animal shelter, if you are going to get a pet adopt, be responsible by being 'green' and not throwing trash on the road/ect.....

that's how i would interpret it but follow your heart and brains in this matter...

  4. Thats interesting. Maybe you have great potential to save the world- people, the forests, animals, etc..

:) I love flying dreams.. but I only get them once in a while..not very often.
