Question:

I'm embarrassed about my body?

I'm 16 and very embarrassed about my body, so embarrassed that I won't take my shirt off near the pool. I am extremely skinny by genetics and have wanted to go to the gym and work out all summer, but my parents won't allow me.

I have a job and do well in school. My parents won't allow me to buy anything. No exercise equipment, no gym membership, nothing. What do I do? All my friends are constantly working out, getting bigger, taking protein and they are starting to call me a twirp.

This is injustice! I worked for that money thus I should buy what I desire.

  1. Say that you're just "going" to your friends house, THEN MAKE A RUN FOR THE FREAKING GYM

  2. hi let me start off by telling you that i was a skinny kid to up to my 18th Bays i weighed 95 pounds i think first of all you have to put some pounds on you first youdon'tt have to eat a lot in a meal you just have to eat more than 3 times a day stay away from snacks a fried foods. as far as gyms sometimes at school you can talk to your football coach to see if you can use the gym there. if not start doingpush upss andsit upss crunches leg lifts mountain climbers for legs pull ups you can get protein without taking pills ex are beans , eggs and some red meat i hope this kind of helps

  3. Why dont you go hang out with your friends, and work out at their place? Or tell your parents you want money to go swimming or something, and then use it at the gym (most pools have work out areas).

Or talk to your dad, and tell him how you feel about it, cause i'm sure he'd be able to understand what it's like to be a teenage guy.

If none of that works, then you can always do pushups in your room, situps, there's lots of exercising you can do that doesnt require gym equipment.

  4. i would have a very seriuss talk with them

  5. calmly explain it is your money buy ur own gym membership and say im going out be back in an hour or something and b very responsible to show them u can handle yourself

  6. It doesn't cost a dime to go running, jogging, do push-up's, sit-up's, squats, or crunches.  They won't give you bulk muscle, but they will tone you up nicely.  Improvise - go watch Rocky.  There's stuff around your home/yard that you can lift to try to bulk up.  Also, increase what you eat to try to put on some weight.

Or you can do what I did.  Accept it.  I was just too lazy to do anything about it and I still am.  If you accept yourself, so will others.  Bullies go after the weak (willed).  Just be confident in yourself.

  7. It is certainly strange behavior on your parents part.  If you are doing well in school and holding down a job at the same time, they should recognize that you are a responsible person.  A well thought out exercise plan can do nothing but benefit you.  Have you told them about being embarrassed about your body?  Have they given you a reason why they will not allow you to at least buy some exercise equipment?  If they cannot give you a reasonable answer maybe you should take it upon yourself to buy what you need.  While I do not know your family situation, and what their reaction might be, it may be time to stand up to them.  Good luck.

  8. Can you use the gym at your school? If not, do workouts you don't need equipment for. You can do various pushups that will work different chest and arm muscles. You can do crunches for the abs. Maybe you can get some cheap small dumb bells to do rows and curls with (possible have a friend get them for you). There are all sorts of ways to improvise.

  9. dude, your 16, you have a job, I'm guessing your Mommy and daddy take your money huh!!!don't let em, do whatever you want with it, if u want to buy exercise stuff then buy it and if they tell you to take it back then tell them your gonna go join a gym

its an injustice your 16 and still do what mommy and daddy tell you to!!

I'm 15, have a job on a ranch and buy work out stuff all the time, my mom dosent ask cause i paid for it and keep it in the barn

    edit:

DUDE! have your bllas droped yet!

TELL them your gonna go to a gym for a membership

dont ask them, tell them its ur money and your ganna get a membershp!

  10. ok listen do push ups, u dotn need equipment for that and it works on almost all ur upper body, for lower body do something like sit down and up with out ur bottom touching the floor that will do ur quads, for claves stand on ur tipy toes or well just stand on ur toes. good luck.

  11. wow ... tough situation

if they let you go out and work cant you just say your doing overtime but in reality go to a gym you can get all the protein shakes and blabla there or otherwise work out from home using well anything around the house :)

  12. You can exercise without any fancy equipment or a gym membership. Sit -ups and push ups still work, if you can add more resistance (is there no gym in school?) gal.milk jugs filled with water make for free weights, concrete blocks can be fashioned into a dumb bell, carrying groceries home with your arms extended is a simple if not difficult exercise. Don't forget running and cycling. make up a program and stick with it writing down your results, you will see changes in about a month. Hope this helps.
