Question:

I'm entering my horse in a parade this weekend. The theme of the parade is "Tough Enough to Wear Pink."

I would like to put the pink ribbon on my horse's rump using glitter for some sparkle. Any suggestions for what type of glitter or glue I should use? OR any other "decoration" ideas? Thanks!

  1. Awesome! I'm not a real fan of pink, but that would be so fun!

You could braid a pink ribbon into his tail with a pink bow just at the dock (maybe attatch it with Elmer's school clue or something). You could also braid your horse's mane and forelock, and put little pink bows on the ends of each braids, and maybe paint your horse's hooves pink too :p Just make sure it's the right kind of paint lol. You could try to get a pink saddle pad, and maybe put pink glitter on your saddle (if you make sure you can get it off first :p). Another decoration idea would be to paint something like pink boxing gloves or something on one of his thighs. You know; anything to represent the <tough> part in "<though> enough to wear pink" and write "TOUGH enough to wear PINK" (like with the <tough> and the <pink> parts capitalized) under that picture thing. You can prolly find some glitter, paint, etc at your tack shop to make sure that it is all safe for the horse. You don't wanna use things that aren't good for them, I'm sure you would agree. :p

You could braid a pink ribbon in your hair too, to match your horse :p Maybe wear pink gloves, and put a couple of pink ribbons on our boots and maybe your shirt and on your helmate.

Good luck, and you have fun!

  2. if you really want to go "all the way" i would buy a second hand light weight pink blanket. Maybe a fly sheet if it is really hot. Braid pink ribbon into his mane and tail. Also you could dye him pink! i ahve seen it done before it is hilarios. Sorry i dont know of any products though. I would go with Twinkle a lot of people are saying that

  3. you should buy pink twinkle toes. its colored hoof polish and should be sparkly. Sometimes very hard to get off but will make your horse look soooo cute. And its safe to put regular finger paint on horses so you could paint pink hearts on him :)

  4. well, if ur horse is ok wit it put pink rubber bands or sumtin in his main

  5. Simple and cheap ways to decorate...that are horse safe...

Use plain old Elmer's school glue...like 88 cents.  Take a small paint brush and 'paint' it on your horse's hooves.  While it is wet...sprinkly pink glitter on it.  Can be found at dollar stores or Walmart like stores for 99 cents or so.  Will peel and scrape off VERY easily.

Sprinkly glitter over horse's rump and mane.  Use generic dollar store hair spray to hold it in place.  Will brush right off.  I don't use on forelock...don't want any in my horse's ears or eyes.

Get pink vet wrap if you don't have polos.  Here...2 rolls for about $4.  That's enough for all 4 legs.

Tie or attach pink ribbons to tailhead, bridle, saddle, mane...etc.  Anywhere you want them.  Use different shades of pink for effect.

If you don't have a pink saddlepad...look for a pink towel or some material that is pink...to put over your regular saddle pad and under your saddle.

Look for fake flowers that are pink and add them to your ribbons or headstall and saddle.

    Have fun!!

  6. Use body glitter that you would use that should be safe for the horse.  You could also braid your horses mane and put a pink ribbon at the end.  They also have great pink boots for your horse way too cute.  If your horses mane is light in color you could get pink hair spray and streak it. Have fun!

  7. pink leg wraps, saddle pads, ribbon all over

and for glitter try glitter hairspray from like claires or a store like that. i'm not sure if they make pink glitter hairspray though.

  8. You got a lot of great ideas. Here is a link to Ebay on pink horse tack. Hope it helps!

  9. I would braid it into his tail and mane and maybe some light weight leggings if it is not too hot out.

    Sounds like fun.

  10. Way to go on you doing this. That is very admirable. Like another user stated, Twinkle products are great, horse safe ways to flash your horse up a bit. Also getting yourself a pink saddle pad cover or blanket would set you apart.

    Good luck.

  11. pink saddle pad, pink bridle, pink reins, and or draw on ur horse with somthing pink and make sure it will was off when u get back home

  12. like some others have suggested you can braid pink ribbons in the mane and tail and some pink sleeves for the reins (easy to make with a sewing machine).i was in a parade and rodeo last year and all the cowboys wore pink along with the horses.we all had a blast and it goes to a great cause.

  13. They sell horse glitter at tack shops, which is better to use than regular glitter or glitter glue. You could use pink hair spray (at most tack shops) to write something

  14. i'd put some bright pink polo wraps on him.. and maybe a pink saddle pad... if you wanted to spend some money:)

  15. I too, will actually be attending a "tough enough to wear pink" parade this weekend. Wonder if it's the same one. I would definately get some wash-out pink hair spray that you sometimes see at Halloween.

  16. get some netting and make bracelets for all four feet.

maybe elmers glue and glitter on hooves.  elmers should be ok to use on skin too.  use ribbons in mane and tail.  maybe more netting around the bridle brownband for the eye area.
