  1. You can it may take a while but it is possible, I was in the same position and I was very shy when i began working but I came out of my "shell" and kept seeing a lot of the same customers and would strike up a convo and went into another comfort zone and it made me feel better.

  2. I think you need to try to feel comfortable with yourself.  The way to do this is going out of your comfort zone and setting up little goals for yourself.  Like go to the grocery store and strike up a convo with the cashier or another customer.  Things like that really help because you feel really good after you accomplish it.

If that seems too weird then you should use your shy ways to your advantage and let it make you seem cute or "reserved."  Either way just go for it!!

  3. Yes !! you CAN do it .  you first need to gain a little confidence and go into it with a positive attitude. You'll always remember this as your very first job.  If you are shy this will be a great way to learn to talk and interact with people.  Its good too because you only have to deal with a certain set of people for a short amount of time then a new group comes in, so you dont have to worry about being shy and having to sit and talk to people you dont know for a long time.

It may take a little bit to get adjusted to your new environment and co-workers and you will be nervous, but everyone is like that before starting a new job, im sure your co-workers will make you feel comfortable, im sure they will give you some training and you'll make some nice friends there.

Hope it works out for you, I know you can do it !

  4. If you do not have serving experience, but have relevant experience (like some kind of management), then try applying at a place like Denny's, which hires less experienced servers.

Smile a lot during your interview. Mention skills like multitasking, a good memory, and being a fast learner.

Repeat until you are hired! Congratulations, now you just have to survive training!

  5. =) Well, let's make it simpler for you. If you get the job then at least try doing the job. It's a real-life experience. even if you're shy, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll b shy for the rest of your life right? Besides, it's not as if you'll be working alone. I'm sure you'll have colleagues that would help you out. It takes time to learn!

On the other hand, if you don't get the job then, that's one less thing to worry about. So cheer up! =D

  6. i couldnt really say,

it might be hard at first,

but if you stick with it itll probably help you come out of your shell anyways =]

  7. you will definitely get better tips the more outgoing you are. Try it out, you might be a different person at work and get used to talking to customers after the first couple of weeks. It probably would help you lose your shy side. If nothing else...fake it till you make it :)
