  1. It is embarrassing even though there is no need. Majority of people do not even read those sections.  However I would tell immediate family like your parents, siblings if you are close, a fiance/boyfriend - anyone that would be hurt reading it somewhere else.

Also if you have financial obligations to someone like a landlord - you may want to give them a heads up and reassure them you have plans to continue paying your bills to them.

  2. Well unless you're name is very unique and people just happnen to scour the paper just for that kind of info (not likely) how are they gonna know?

You don't need to tell anyone if you don't want to . You're an adult and it's your business alone. If you really want to talk about it, talk to a 1-2 close friends or relatives that can offer you support not critisism.

  3. It's a small notice in the legal section of the classifieds...If not looking for it your friends probably won't accidentially see it either...

    .

Enjoy the benefits of it and learn from it  cause you can't do it again for 7 years ....

You may not get to fully discharge all your debt either...I know bankruptcy cases are different now than what I knew in 1980..

You need a lawyer cause there is allot of leg work to one of these cases....

Good Luck  ..............and if your friends look down on you for this than find new friends unless you deserve it or something...

  4. It is absolutely necessary that you file locally? Usually, you're filing at the Sate Level, I think. Maybe you could travel to a neighboring county (Idea?)

  5. My partners bankrupt, Only a few close friends know and as far as we are aware, it wasnt printed in a paper. Do not feel ashamed!! Its too easy for things to spiral out of control, Its not your fault.

The national debt helpline is very usefull and will guide you on everything you need to know http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/ The number you need is on that website, It does take a while to get through sometimes but its worth it when you do, There very friendly people and not judgemental in the slightest. Good luck :-)

You are not a looser! Its so easy to get in debt, and even easier to loose control of it, Anjell was right, Unless people are actually looking, I doubt they will find out, Its in the back of the newspapers in small print, Not on the front page. You dont have to tell anyone, And i highly doubt the people that do know will look down on you.

  6. Pasha is correct, no one will see it, and no you shouldn't tell anyone.  You will be fine, there are hundreds and hundreds of people filing for bk.  Please check out this free newsletter by Stephen Snyder a leading authority on FICO scores and BK, you will find useful information on this subject.  He also has a book out about this subject.  The website is www.lifeafterbankruptcy.com great website and it is free.

  7. If you are asking for advise here, you really need help.  Go to any tax attorney and lay at his feet pleading for help, you need it.
