I live in San Francisco and have a wedding to go to in Seattle. The Groom asked me to bring about 20 bottles of hard liqueur for the wedding in San Fran and put it in luggage when I fly out to Seattle.

Is this illegal?

  1. Yes - but I suggest you take it in the same shipping box as the liquor store receives it in.  The airline isn't responsible for breakage - and luggage is handled very rough - plus remember you'll probably have to pay extra for it.  Which might offset just buying it in Seattle - I can't believe liquor is less expensive in SF than Seattle.

I brought home a case of 2-buck Chuck wine from the OC on the airline - it arrived ok.

  2. Is he joking?  Why would he ask you to do that?  Do they not have liquor in Seattle?  Is it cheaper in Cali?  That's a weird request.  But no, it's not illegal.

  3. Check it in in its original case and packaging and you should be fine. You might wanna bubble wrap each bottle though just because baggage handler can give an ratass about whats is inside even if you marked it "fragile"
