  2. As of now ALL PERSONS traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.

    All U.S. citizens including children must present a passport or secure travel document when entering the United States by air.

    Land/Sea Travel

    Beginning January 31, 2008, the United States will end the practice of accepting oral declarations of citizenship at the border.

        * U.S. citizens ages 19 and older must present documentation that proves both identity and citizenship. Identification documents must include a photo, name and date of birth. View the complete list of acceptable documents at CBP.gov.

        * Children ages 18 and under will only be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.

  4. You need a passport whenever you go anywhere outside of the United States whether it be Canada or Mexico. But you dont need one when you go to countries that are territories of America like Puerto Rico,Guam,American Samoa,etc. Wiki that ish.

  5. Not really to ENTER mexico, but to get home you might and if your flight stops anywhere in the US you do.

    Passports are the most widely accepted form of identification. It's just less of a hassle to have one so get one!
