  1. You have to be 16 to accompany anyone

You'll have to go through alone while he will be accompanied.

You'll meet up on the flight

  2. I'm a former Flight Attendant and we had this situation several times. The best solution is to make BOTH of you unaccompanied minors. This is usually available until age16 or 17 (depending on the airline). We often had silbings flying together as "UM"s (as we called them) with the oldest around 17 years old, capable of flying alone but not ready to be in charge of other younger siblings. Sometimes there were older UM's with language issues so that's another reason for opting for this service. Chances are, you might see even kids older than yourselves flying as UM's.

I can't get any info from Air India (not much on their site) so I suggest calling them. This way, you two can stay together, get through the security and immigration lines faster and get some help with your baggage and any connnections. Heck, I wish *I* could fly as a UM! But the airline staff know you're used to flying and wont treat you as a baby. It will just make the whole journey easier for both of you.

Yes, you could probably handle it alone but you don't want to be separated from your brother. Sometimes the fee covers siblings (but check!).

Usually your parents check in with you and are instructed to wait at the airport until your flight leaves. You two would then be escorted to the gate by a ground agent and you board early. The Flight Attendants on board will keep your paperwork and keep an eye on you but during the flight, you're treated normally like any other passenger. At the end of the flight, you will probably be given instuctions like stay with a certain Flight Attendant, wait in your seats, etc. (it can vary). You will then be handed over to a ground agent who again, will help you get through the airport and make sure that the right person is there to pick you up.

Your parents have to tell the airline who will pick you up at the airport but this person does NOT have to be a relative. They will probably be asked to show ID before they can leave the airport with you. Be sure to warn them.

Remember to recharge any electronical items before flying and take alone the rechargers (with any converters you might need) to juice them up on layovers. Bring things to read, puzzels, etc. Since it's a long flight (assuming), bring a change of clothes, even just a T and shorts. Each of you take your own backpack with your own things. If you have a cell phone, make sure you know how to turn it off for the flight.

Otherwise, stay with your brother and do this trip together. It's long and don't be separated.

Good luck and have a good time in India!

  3. hi you

a minor is a person that is under 16 and your brother can travail with you but just like you he will have to have your parents or guardian permission to travail also on the plane

  4. Probably not and possibly nor you either. I think that also there is something about needing guardian permissions also. Be advised that there is also the thing on forced / arranged marriages and under aged marriages(illegal under uk and EU law). You could, if you got married young there, find that you have still broken EU and UK law.

There is only one authority that can give you the information, Air India.
