What do i need to get back into the UK as his dependent? What do i need to do and what are the requirements? Is there a way to apply for an emergency visa while in South Africa as we planned to come back to the UK a week after the wedding but a spouses visa takes up to 10 working days?

Because he is in the U.S Military, he is exempt from immigration control, whereas i am not.

  1. Yes but you would be on American soil on the base. Your husband to be would have to get his commanding officer involved. He would know what red tape you need to go through. And you may need to consult the British & American Embassies in Cape Town. I think you would need all 3 to sign off on this. Good Luck!

  2. A US base is not "American soil."  Except for that common misconception, the previous answer is essentially correct.  The US military member MUST consult his command for permission and assistance with his wish to marry you.  The command will provide you with help with a UK visa, but not until you are married.  When the time comes to go to the US with him, you will need an immigrant visa, which you will be able to apply for at the US embassy in the UK, if that is where your husband is stationed; again, it will be the command that will assist you.  You will not need the US immigrant visa before that.
