Perhaps you are using an Argentinian accent.  Why don't you try to speak clearly without pronouncing those ssssss so and without rolling your toungue when you speak?

Perhaps a course in pronunciation is what you need.  And don't forget to a foreign ear every latin sounds like every other latin, same goes for english or german.  Some think someone is from germany when in fact they are austrian.

Are you really from Uruguay? Is that so, then why are you asking such a question?  You know Uruguayans and Argentineans (porteños) do speak very, very similar and that only and Uruguayan or an Argentinean can tell the difference.

Does it bother you? Then, if you do not want be confused with an Argentinean from now on begin all your conversations with “I’m from Uruguay…” so things will be clear from the beginning.

Uruguayans talk very much like argentinians do. You can notice the difference, but we can`t. You also use "che" expression, right? ..and drink mate.
