I'm from canada. If I call a friend's cellphone in malaysia, would my friend also get charged?

Is your friend cellphone an overseas ( non Malaysia number ) number too? Then it is "yes" . Because he/she roaming in Malaysia with non Malaysian Number .

If he/she is a user of Malaysia number , the answer is "no" as the is no charge for receiving call from overseas.

It depends on his cellphone package. He'll probably be charged the airtime, unless his package offers free incoming calls. Why not chat via Yahoo! Messenger? Just attach a mic to your sound port. It's free (the chatting, not the mic:-))
