Question

My family and I are hoping to leave for Canada in 2009 but not certain when exactly. My dad has been in Vancouver for almost a year now. Just want to know what city is the best for us to live as beginners. I heard Vancouver is quite expensive to live but I would love its mild climate. If it were not costly to live in Vancouver I'd definitely prefer to live there. I made a lot of research on Vancouver and some of the rest of BC and I found out Vancouver was really the choice. Every response is appreciated. Thanks!!!

I heard Port Coquitlam is a nice place to live and it's not too far from downtown Vancouver.

i'm also pinoy... my family moved to canada in 2005. i say just stick with vancouver. sure, it's expensive compared to other provinces but geez! you're gonna love the place. it's totally worth it. and yes, the weather is the best in the country. it doesn't snow much (believe me, you're going to hate snow after awhile) and the temperature rarely dips below zero.

the area around joyce station (sky train) is full of pinoys. it's not as expensive too. burnaby is also a place you could look into. east vancouver might be the cheapest but it's not that safe... as well as surrey. new westminster is also good. coquitlam, port coquitlam, maple ridge are a bit too far already. for new immigrants, the closer you are to the downtown area, the better it is for job prospects.

anyway, just email me and i'll hook you up with my parents. they'll be able to help you guys around. i've already moved to the US but my parents are still there and i go up there often to visit them.

believe me, you're gonna love vancouver. it's my favorite place in the world. i wish i could move back there (i can't coz my husband is american).
