I can't get a straight answer from anyone. Not even Verizon employees.. some say it's free, some say it's $.20/.50 so i have no idea. Help anyone? I'm right over the border in Surrey, BC.

  1. Don't you love it when the company can't get it right?

Try logging into your account online. Then search for international calling/texting. Good luck.

  2. Don't forget to notify your cell provider that you are going there.

They WILL shut you down if calls suddenly show up in Canada.

Yes, it does cost more.  You'll be transfered through whatever local carrier is there.  Some are charging massive extra charges by the way.

I'm in Ontario periodicaly, family visits.  I also get extended coverage for the visits.  That helps with the fees.

  3. It depends on what type if calling plan you have, and whether you have International Roaming.

If there is no Verizon network in the area you are visiting, it is safe to say it will cost you extra to call.  Your phone needs to 'rent' airspace from another cellular provider to complete the call -- and of course that provider will want to be paid.
