I'm having planning on having an outside, fall wedding in the southern portion of the US. Probably sometime in late September or early October(the date is still tentative)

We are getting married by a lake in the most beautiful forest and I've decided I want to use fall colors for my ceremony and reception.

I've found the perfect dress

and my aunt who is a florist is doing the flowers for the wedding.

We're planning on a general mix of

mango calla lilies

My problem is I can't seem to find bridesmaids dresses that I like.

Could you all possibly give me some suggestions on dresses?

My only specifications are...

I would like simple, knee length gowns

They aren't priced over $150

The color(s) don't clash with the flowers.

Any help on the dresses or further suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  1. Matching colors can be very frustrating! Here are a couple of simple suggestions. Go with the green in the bouquets.  Then the flowers will all match easily. Or go with a dress that has a ribbon sash that is a dark shade of tan or a brown. Then it will be a lot easier to match ribbon to the flowers as you can get it from any fabric store.  I think your dress is gorgeous!  And a fall wedding is stunning!

  2. Simple suggestion. Go with black. You don't even have to go to a bridal shop, either. Go to Macy's, Nordstroms, any department store, and look for dresses in different sizes. If they lack one size, they can call ones in another towns, and see if they have it stock. My friend did this because she HATED bridesmaids dresses, so she went and found what she was looking for, and did it in black, because that flatters everyone's complexion and goes with all types of flowers. All she did to make them a bit different, was add a sash. Everyone had strapless, black, knee length dresses like this one, but not exactly, and could wear it to more then one occasion:

    try this..

  4. I think that with the orange colors in your flowers you have somewhat of limited option for colors (especially if you would like to keep that fall colored theme). However, I think that a chocolate brown, sage or even a reddish pumpkin color would be really gorgeous. I especially like the chocolate brown trend because of its versatility that you are adding to by having cocktail length dresses (another wedding trend I love). I also really like black bridesmaid dresses, but I think that with your orange colors it will look far too Halloween-y. Which is why my personal recommendation would be the chocolate brown.

David's Bridal is always a good start for dresses because they are always affordable:

I like it in persimmon, truffle and fern and it's $105.

Again I enjoy it in truffle.

I  like the idea of allowing bridesmaids to wear bras with straps for a couple of reasons.

    1. Your bridesmaids will not have to adjust their cleavage area avoiding all that awful awkward upward pulling on the top of the dress because your b***s are falling.

    2. Girls with larger b*****s (like myself) enjoy being able to wear a comfortable, supportive bra.

    3. I find that I stay warmer with a covered shoulder.

    4. Also this dress is very cute.

As a side note, your wedding dress is beautiful! I can't wait to find my dream dress. Congratulations!

  7. There are plenty of tea length dresses out there, not just in bridal stores so there is definately no problem there. Its the colour you have to decide on

I think your dress is just soo perfect for the outdoor wedding by the lake, and the flower choices are great I love the orchids!!!

    the colours I think would be nice for a fall wedding would be;

any shade of blue, from duck egg blue to dark teal

certain shades of gree, e.g. mint green

also certain shades of purple, close to dark purple tones would be lovely

    or chocolate brown????

heres some stuff to help you think of colours and shapes, once you know what you like and want then you can go searching for it, you have done a great job so far, I dont think you need much more help as you have great taste :)

  10. Simple empire waist gowns in a fall leaf color would be cheap, lovely and usuable beyond the wedding for the bridesmaids.

  11. Try looking on ebay, I would go for a sort of russet colour for the bridesmaids that will compliment the bouquet. Or if you want something different but doesn't clash how about a soft green with accents of gold.

I am imagining the colours of autumn (fall in US) and they are the colours of nature.

You have picked stunning colours for your flowers I am sure you will look gorgeous.

    Good luck.
