  1. Your not gauging your ears your STRETCHING them. Gauge is the size. You shouldn't even be doing something like this if you can't even use the correct terms.

  2. The process of enlarging a piercing is called "stretching". That's what educated piercers call it, so it makes sense to use the correct terms.

The odds are very high that your ears would go back to normal if you only stretched them to an 8 and you did it slowly.

However there is absolutely no garuantee. You could be stuck with those 8g holes for the rest of your life. It's unlikely that it would happen, but it can. So if you're only stretching your ears to be trendy and you don't want to risk having 8g holes forever, then just don't stretch your ears. After all, they're your ears and you have to live with them.

If you decide to stretch and then want to downsize, just take out the larger jewelry. Then patiently wait for your ears to shrink up. You can massage the piercings with a little vitamin e oil or another skin-safe oil nightly to stimulate the tissue. Time and a little massage should allow the piercings to close. Keep in mind that this process can take weeks to months and your ears may never be exactly the same.

While you are stretching the number ONE tip for keeping your ears healthy is to stretch slowly. Your skin needs time to heal between each stretch. Rushing will risk tearing your piercings or forming scar tissue. Both of these problems can make it much more difficult for your ears to shrink back down later. It doesn't matter how fast someone else stretched their ears, you need to listen to your body and stretch carefully. Caring for your ears well now will help them close if you choose to take them out or even make stretching later easier if you choose to stretch again. Waiting at LEAST a month between stretches should be long enough at the smaller sizes for most people.

Aside from stretching slowly, you will need to clean your piercings. After you've stretched you will need to leave your jewelry in place for a week or two, so just wash gently around the piercing. After the piercing has settled down some, you can remove the jewelry to clean inside the piercing itself.

  3. as long as you're actually stretching them, not scalpeling them or whatever it's called, they'll shrink back to normal size eventually. i'm at a 6ga right now, so i don't know how long it takes to shrink all the way back, but if i leave mine out for a day or two i have to restretch them for like a day. i guess it all depends on how your skin is. and make sure you keep them clean! i clean mine everyday, cause if i don't they smell really bad hahaha. good luck!
