  1. Invisalign is used for teeth problems that are not near as serious as problems that you would put regular braces on for. They will help a lot of problems but the real braces will do the trick all the way where as invisalign will not. Then again if your teeth are not horribly messed up then it will look just great. In answer to your question, you are right braces are better to fix teeth but braces are a heck of a lot more painful, a lot longer, and a lot of a process, plus they look much worse when they are on. Best of luck.

  2. Invisalign and braces use different methods to achieve results. Invisalign uses small increments while braces use continuous pressure. Each works to change the positions, but invisalign works in small steps, applying more pressure when first inserted and less as the teeth move until there is very little pressure, and then you move to the next step and repeat the pressure sequence. Braces consist of two parts, the anchor which does not move and the positioner, which uses springs or rubber bands to apply constant pressure all of the time. The braces need to be adjusted from time to time to maintain the correct amount of pressure as the teeth move their postition as there is a limited range of motion of the positioner section. So, in this respect, regular braces DO work in steps as invialign does. Invisalign is just a expensive way of not wearing braces to accomplish the same kind of result. I have a friend who had braces, changed over to invisalign, and then back to braces because invisalign simply was not working as well as the braces. Her dentist had warned her invisalign may not achieve the desired results, which turned out to be the case. They work well for small changes, but not major changes where braces are better suited to the task.

  3. invisalign is good for retainers, i've never heard of them being used as braces... i say use traditional braces for braces, and invisalign as a retainer. good luck
