  1. Kawasaki or Honda

  2. I agree with Kato that the yz125 is the better 2 stroke bike.  I would not get a kawasaki as my son was sponsored by them till about 18 months ago so was racing a kx125.  We were glad when he picked up sponsorship from Honda as the kx just didn't have the balls the other bikes had.  The honda is a good bike but I know that the Yamaha is meant to be slightly better.

Do keep in mind that Honda no longer make the 125cc and really stopped development on the cr125cc about 5 years ago where the yz's have kept up with improvements.  The 125cc 2 strokes are slowly disappearing off the grids and when racing usually have to race against the 4 stroke 250cc.  They are then usually outclassed.

  3. There is no '' Best for Motorcross" racing bike, it's all personal preference

  4. honda

  5. I don't like to use the word "best" when I can avoid it, but in this case the Yamaha is better in both the 125 and 250 class. Manufacturers just aren't concentrating on the 2 stroke models anymore, but Yamaha has stayed on their game where the 2 strokes are concerned.

  6. A fourstroke! If I had to go back to the old days I would go for the newest of the 4 major brands that I could find. You did not say if you were after a 250 or 125. I prefer Yams, but Hon Suz & Kaw are all good bikes. Just go as new as you can.

  7. "80 % of riding is down to the rider."

Not my words, Jerry Burgess. The man who took Mick Doohan & Valentino Rossi to 10 x world titles.

My point been, choose the bike that suits you, not what is regarded as " best ".

The best bike might not suit your riding style.

  8. kawasaki, yamaha, honda, suzuki, and ktm all spend tons of money to try to be the best and they all are pretty darn close in comparison.  Personally I ride Yamaha, my only reason is my uncle used to race and that's what he rode, and he didn't really have much of a reason to choose it over anything else either.  With maybe the exception of ktm, they all make very similarly capable bikes at very similar prices (ktm tends to make more bikes with uncommon displacements and are typically more expensive, but still fine machines IMO).  Can't say I know a ton about the 2 strokes, been riding 4's probably 90% of the time, so maybe someone's still giving the 2's their day, but most attention has switched to the 4's.  Basically I'm saying you're really not gonna notice much of a difference between two 125's from any of the companies above, so if you're going used, just look for a deal.
