  2. Petco gives away coupon books for people who get new pets so ask your local pet store if they have any discounts. It will probably be $100-150 for cat supplies and you will have to ask your vet how much an exam and shots will cost.

  3. $24.99-$49.99 for a cage

$15 for a nice variety of toys

    $14.99-$29.99 for a scratching post

$9.99 for a bag of food

$6.99 for a small litter box

$6.99 for a small container of litter

$40 for vet office visit and $50 for shots

It all depends--you can spend less or more depending on where you go. Petsmart has a lot of variety but tends to be more expensive than Super Walmart.

  4. - a cage $50

    - toys $10 - 20 homemade toys are usualy better

    - that cat scratch post thingie $10 - 130

    - cat food $ 5 - 7

    - litter box and the little litter box sand $ 7 - 25

    - and shots. $ 10 - 40

  5. The cost will varies.

Let's say, it won't be half as expensive as kids!

What about expected & unexpected vet bills?

    Pet Insurance perhaps?

Apart from vaccinations, flea treatment, worming.

You can spend little or a lot on items.

As she is a new born, you shouldn't be collecting her until she is at least 7 weeks, so may be start getting things a bit at a time, so the cost wouldn't be so shocking than if you try and buy everything in one go!!

All kittens has blue eyes, only some breeds will retain the blueness as it at older...they will be cute whatever their colours anyway!

Shop around for some quality food to give her a good start in life, but in the beginning stick to the same type of food she is weaned on, and introduce any new food gradually to avoid upset tummy.

Paying slightly more for quality items that last rather than go for cheap ones that need replacing quickly.

Do searches on-line on cat care.

It's up to you what you want to name her, but may be leave out the human ones to avoid confusions...imagine taking about her, and people thought you were talking about a 2-legged family member!

Ask cat owning neighbours/friends to recommend a good vet in your area & the best places for cat things.

All the best, once you own your first cat, you will be hooked for life!

  6. Check Wal-mart. I just recently brought home a dashing baby male kitten (about 2 1/2 weeks ago) and I bought all of my stuff from there. The small litter box I got was basic and was like $3 but range up to $90 (the ultimate p**p box). Litter can range too depending on brand. Also, watch to make sure your kitty isn't allergic to the litter. I realized my little guy is allergic to Tidy cat so I had to buy Special Kitty. Toys can vary from $.99 to $20. I got a stand up scratching post with a ball on top for $11. Kitten food varies as well. I picked up Kitten Chow for $5. It was a decent sized bag considering he's a baby. Cages can run cheaper too depending on what you get. The shots depends on your vet and what he charges. If you get your kitten from a humane society, see if they run specials with certain vets or animal hospitals. My humane society did his first set of shots he was old enough for, I got a free exam from a list of vets in the area if I took him within 10 days (found out he had some problems he needed meds for) and I get 50% any shots within the first month adopting him. Check local animal hospitals because some even offer free exams for new patients as well. If he or she needs meds, the price varies as well. Like my Zeus's meds were about $4 and $12.

Most of all, good luck, The name is up to you. Try this site for name ideas: http://www.kittennames.net/

  7. - A cage can vary in price you can get one for about $30 - $40 but if you want one that is good enough to go on a plane it will be more like $100

    - Toys are really cheap (the expensive ones cats don't always have any more interest in), get a packet of cheap ping pong balls ($5 max) they don't need the posh coloured ones from the pet shop, a ball of cheap string $2 and a feather wand $10, mine also has a ribbon on a stick $10

    - A little scratch post is $40, of you get more of a cat tree with a scratch post combined it will be more like $100 (they like to go up high so it is worth the investment)

    - Cat food is about $15 a week (depends on the brand though some are cheaper than others)

    - Litter box can be about $10 but they prefer covered ones if you can afford it which are about $50

    - Shots are about $60 in Australia and the cat will need 3 (although the person selling them may already have had some done so check)

You will also need flea treatment, a brush ($10), bowls for food  and water ($10) and if going outside a safety collar (that breaks if it gets caught on something so the cat doesn't choke ($10).

Litter varies in price mine if $5 per time.  There are some more expensive some cheaper but you will have to see which one your cat prefers, my cat chose hers over time.

I think a nice name would be silver.

  8. As long as you take good care of her - that is THE main thing.

Cage....or I think ya mean a cat box for travelling.....will not cost too much.

Toys are quite cheap & kittens will have hours of fun.

Cat scratch, this depends on how large a post you wish to get.

Nosh - shop around for the best cat food prices.

Litter tray & litter.....will not cost that much. Try using Fullers Earth litter, this is much better.

The vaccines are the costly part of owning a cat.

Owning a cat has responsibilities - as long as you take care of your kitten - your cat will give you many years of love & fun.

Best wishes....not sure of a name.....you'll discover this once you become her mom.

  9. you can get a used cage from craigslist or something cheap, or a new one for like $100, toys you can get from the dollar store or make them..the scratching post can be $20, cat food depends on how much you buy, but less than $1 a can, or about $15 for a bag of food. Vet bills will be pricey. The litter box can be anywhere from $2-40 averagely. name her something pretty, she sounds pretty. Good luck =D
