  1. um, will take s-e-r-i-o-u-s time and effort to make sure animals get on ok.  can be tricky with dogs and cats, are you sure another female - but fixed - dog might not be better? You can't be sure world war 3 won't break out. Cats can bully dogs too you know!

also - um, you can't really leave a kitten (especially a young one) alone for long periods of time. they need love, playing, to make a bond with you... if this isnt sorted out within weeks of the kitten coming in he could develop into a difficult, undisciplined cat.

as far as litter is concerned - get a kitten that's 9 weeks or more and he should be well able to use the litter (if not, there's lots of good answers on here already about how to fix that).

folks have given you good name suggestions

  3. you want a dog, not a kitten.

cats and dogs usually only play if raised together as babies, other wise, they torment each other.

cats can defend them selfs against dogs, they tear the nose off with the front claws and they jump on the dogs back and bite and claw.

litter box training is easy, just keep putting him in it.

if you catch him going elsewhere, sternly say no, place in box, praise.

    keep litter box clean.

  4. If you get your kitten from a shelter or rescue group (preferred, as they need a home), the staff may know if the kitten is used to other animals.  And you also have to know the temperament of the dog, and ask about ways of introducing your dog from the staff.

Almost all kittens know how to use the litter box, even those who have never seen litter before.  Any accidents could be the result of stress or a medical condition, so don't jump to any quick conclusions.

Don't bet that a kitten cannot defend herself, but of course that will depend a lot on what type of dog you have.  Claws to the nose will quiet almost any dog.

As far as a name, let the kitten suggest a name herself.  By that, some mannerism or action will probably suggest a name.

  5. I like Karlie.  well to train your dog to not chew up your cat when your not there is to have the cat live in the bathroom for a couple of days.  during that time, take your dog in there daily (hold on to him of course) and let the kitten come up to him and then he will learn that the kitten is not a threat.

  6. you have to look at the kitten. this sounds retarded but really look at it and find its personality. when you name the kitten, you have to pick a name that goes well with its color.

black kittens : midnight, sasha, phantom, spooky

white kittens : emma, princess, cleo, glitter

orange kittens : ginger, elise, pumpkin

gray kittens : seal, cloudy, smokey, misty

    multicolored : zahara, bobo, i don't know

i really would suggest letting the kitten show you a name.

you'll know which name is right.

make sure that when you are gone, at least until you KNOW that the kitten and dog will get along, lock the kitten in a room. preferably quite large so that it still has space to roam around and check things out.

you can also put up a baby gate. kittens can defend themselves, but i don't think that they will be trying to terrorize a dog when they are still getting used to their surroundings. make sure that no fighting is going on, but do try to introduce the kitten to the dog sooner or later. even if it takes having the dog in its cage while doing it.

as for kitten training, if you show them where to go to the bathroom, they'll pretty much know everything they need to about that. sure there might be a few accidents ever once and a while, but as long as you make sure there is privacy, and enough space to let her feel comfortable, she will be fine.

good luck and hope i helped!!!

  7. i don't know about the name, but you can search it up on google,

about the dog, though......either keep the kitten in a separate room, where the dog can't go untill the kitten is old enough, or keep the dog in a seperate room....

to train the kitten, just put her in the litter box, and scratch the litter with your hand, or astick or something, do that a couple times a day....

if it doesn't work, just search it up on google

  8. The kitten will learn to go to the litter by itself, all you need to do is show the box to her and help her dig a couple of times, and if she has an accident just take th epoo and put it in the box and help her cover it.

But why are you getting a cat to keep your dog company? Haven't you heard that cats and dogs sometimes don't get along? You risk to make them both unhappy or injured.

  9. i have a kitten with 3 legs that i just got last year and i all ready have 2 other cats that are 3 or 4 years older. the kitten didn't get along with the other cats at all. the other cats only rejected him. so i locked all the cats in the same rome with me. but made sure nothing happened to hurt the little cat or the other cats. maybe it will work for you  but the only thing is a kitten and a dog don't mix good i'd probably just get another dog. but what ever you chose i'd addopt a pet from a animal shelter.  SAVE THE ANIMALS!!!

  10. Generally dogs and cats aren't huge 'friends'..

I had a cat before our dogs so the dogs would actually wait for a sip at the water dish - the cat was 'boss'. She passed and I got two new kittens.

The dogs didn't enjoy the kittens for awhile they would snap.

Now everyone (5 months later) are all family but that didn't happen until the dogs got used to the kittens and they became less playful. Sometimes I believe they think they are dogs.

  11. kittens are easey to kitty litter train  all you have to do is show them the litter pan and put a little watter in one spot in it thats it ^_^.

  12. 1. it all depends on what the kitten looks like and her personality. dont name her before you even meet her.

    2. what type of dog do you have? if you are even the slightest bit worried he will "rip up the kitten", you shouldnt get one, especially if you plan on leaving them home unattended.

    3. close the kitten in the bathroom or wherever the litterbox is going to be, pick the kitten up and put it in the litterbox. leave it in the bathroom for an hour or so and the kitten will understand, kittens are smart.
