I just got a new teaching job. But I'm worried I'm going to have a hard time finding a place to live. I have 8 negative items on my credit report, but they are all paid off. I have a credit card in good standing and my score is increasing, but I still worry. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

  1. Start applying, you will not find something sitting here.

  2. I thought I was going to have the same problem, but if you fail the credit check, they look at your income. Is it 1.5x your rent? Then they'll override the credit.

This is the case at all the big complexes here, so I'd ask about that in your area. I think you'll be fine. If you can't find a place, rent a room until you beef up your credit report.

  3. .    Start by renting a room in a private house.  Then shop for a permanent place.
