I'm getting a used car for birthday, whats a great car with great gas mileage?

For my 16th bday, Im getting a used car that has to be less that 10,000 dollars but i want a midsized suv (like an xterra :D) but i really want it to have good gas mileage since i will be paying for gas and insurance etc. Any ideas of one with good gas mileage? :)

if you get a V6 engine it has adequate power when you need it but also is capable of good mpg if you drive like your Dad's in the car.

civics and corollas are probably what you're going to get if you want a gas saver.  

if you wanna go with a SUV that makes decent gas mileage, look into a CRV or a Rav4.

For less than $10k, I highly recommend a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Those are the most reliable cars ever. The Honda Civic  just won "Best Selling Car In the U.S."

Try looking for Civics and Corollas around 2004 and older because anything newer will be more. I don't recomment buying anything older than a decade. So at least a 1999 to play it safe.

If you want a hybrid, it will be extremely difficult to find one under $10k. Goodluck!
