I currently have high speed internet with a wired router that is connected to 2 desktop computers. One is Vista and one is XP. I also want the internet to work on my PS3 and ipod touch. My comps. are in the top floor and my ps3 is in the mid. floor. I want a router that covers most of my house or all. It is 3 storeys. I think i need a wireless g router, 2 wireless g usb adapters and thats it. Please tell me if this is correct. Also does the manuel with the router tell you how to secure or "add a password" to your internet connection. If not please tell me how. Also which is the best brand. I currently have D-Link and am extremely satisfied with it.

  1. Hello my friends!!!!!!

well, WireLess device is gud  but sometimes it may xperienced problem if the position of PC is in different

room, cos the Wall mostly block the signal came from ur wireless Router so you xperienced very slow or no connection!! if you want to interconnect ur PS3 and it is on the other floor of ur house !!! like what i did also, i advice you to used cable<UTP> instead of WiFi connection to interconnect all ur Pc,lapTop or PS3 in one...

!!! WireLess Connection only adviceable only if all PC to interconnect is in the same room or minimum distance!!!!!

    thanks!!!!!

  2. You can use a wireless N router which is much faster than g. But I would suggest buying the old version one like WRT54 ver4 below or from D-Link that can be hack and can be installed with DD-WRT: http://www.dd-wrt.com/ You can check their site to routers that supports that firmware.

You can also buy an extra antenna to have it cover a few hundred meter radius. Yes, you can secure your network with WEP or WPA and also you should not broadcast your SSID. You can also use MAC filtering to allow only those PC you know.

  3. You need to get a wireless router, and wireless network adapters (USB or you can ones that go inside the PC) for each of the computers you want wireless. I am not sure about the PS3 since I don't own one. The I-Pod has a wireless adapter built in, so no need to get anything for that.

Since you have 3 floors, you might encounter some connectivity issues. I would suggest putting the wireless router downstairs and definitely think about getting a wireless N router + network adapters, which is faster than wireless G.

I personally like Linksys better than D-Link, but that's just personal bias. I've had problems with my first D-Link router and I hated them since, but many other people will disagree with me.

The manual will tell you how to set up a "secure" wireless network by using a "key" and I strongly suggest you use it!
