  1. They're such great dogs, but you do need a lot of patience with them, as they tend to be a little stubborn!  Try and organise for him to go to a puppy preschool, it's great fun and it helps both of you learn how to work together!

  2. Lots of old news paper for him to GO on or puppy pads ,bowls an old alarm clock may be wrap it in a blanket at bed time so he thinks its his mummys hart beet and doesnt get lonely  he mite also like a cuddly teddy too (a litter mate ) bless.good luck.

  3. A big shovel for the enormous loads of c**p he'll make.

  4. plastic bags for the p**p.

    Pee pads http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

    Brush or comb http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/m...

  5. If your keeping him in the house you need papers, like newspapers to spread on the floor or a box like a kitty litter box for him to poo in. If it's not a kitty litter box put the papers in the box.

If your keeping him inside and it will be all alone, a good idea is to get a ticking clock and put it in his bed if you have one. When I was little I think I read in a book that the ticking sounds like its mom's heart beating. This is to keep it from crying the first night or first few nights.

Another thing you can do to keep him from crying is to fill a hot water bottle with warm water and wrap it up in some cloth and put it in his bed. It will feel warm like his mom's body. This according to what I read as a little kid will remind him of his mom's warm body.

I had a puppy and kept it outside and it only cried for one night. But I did talk to it out the window  and it stopped crying. I didn't have a bed, didn't give it a ticking clock, or give it a hot water bottle.

  6. hi,

The Alaskan Malamute features a powerful, sturdy body built for stamina and strength. It reigns as one of the oldest canine breeds whose original looks have not been significantly altered. This intelligent dog needs a job and consistent leadership to avoid becoming bored or challenging to handle.

    here's more info:

    hope this helps.

  7. Other things you will need:

    - Odour/stain remover (optional) - it is good for removing stains from carpets when your puppy has a little accident.

    - ID tag

    - Tooth brush and tooth paste - Make sure that your dogs teeth and mouth are in good condition buy brushing everyday. Please never use human toothpaste. You can buy toothpaste especially formulated for dogs at your local pet store. It is best to start brushing your dog`s teeth at an early age as it can be very chalenging trying to do it when they become adults.

    - Shampoo

    - Conditioner

    - Brush/comb - Making sure you groom your dog is also important. I would say that giving your Alaskan Malmute a brush daily will help to keep your dog`s coat in top condition and get rid of any matts.

    - Nail clippers - Dogs nails will need to be clipped every.........

    - First aid box - Please be prepared as you will never know when your dog may have a serious accident (choking etc.).

There is a few other products you may also like to get, but for now I would just stick to the products I listed and the stuff you have already got.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your new puppy!

  8. lots of things .cutting nails, brushing him, ear cleaning drops, the best thing u should do is buy pills calcium for bones (very important for puppys), shampoo (medical) from vet,i have all that things for my puppy.and the best thing is also to prevent parasites, so u should by just for preventive cause, some drops for that to that last for about month and a half.and u shouldnt bathe him more than once a month, so best thing is to bath his the first or second day u get the pup.and, u must have all vet bill planned, for all the puppy shots, and get them in time to prevent diseases, and u should not bond ur puppy with grown dogs, ar any other, untill ur puppy gets at least first two shots.

and bowls, and good food (mine eats royal canin), dont feed the dog with crappy food like darling or friskies.fenced area, collar...

and lots of nerves for the firs month and a half.

u will get so upset at ur puppy sometimes, for sure.everyone does.but after month and a half/ two months, it will all be easier.

and ur puppy will be very calm for first two or tree days, but dont buy that and think this will be like that. the puppy will get all crazy and well... it will act as a puppy, so have a lots of patiant and love him.

  9. Bowls for food and water.  A really good brush.  A great vacuum cleaner.  A lot of patience.  A place where he can dig holes.  A paid reservation into Sirius Puppy Classes.  A way to exercise a large dog.  These are beautiful dogs but I really hope you are an experienced owner/trainer and I can tell from your question that you aren't.  These are not beginner dogs.

  10. 1. NEVER BUY A PUPPY just LOOKS, colour along, fur type-COLOUR, fur type and looks HAS NO INDICATION OF DOGS TEMPERMENT!

    2. Consider your lifestyle-

    4. Are you out more then 8hours a day

    5. Consider your energy requirements, Size, Grooming.

    6. Don't just buy because someone says this is the dog for you, people particular on yahoo answer will give you there particular favourite breed& what suits them, not what actually suit you.

    7. Read all you can-THERE are alot of false information on the web and in books about different dog breed.

8 DON'T TRUST THOSE DOG BREED SELECTORS-MOST OF THE RESULTS ARE INCORRECT. Ex i search large breed dogs, and the Pomeranian came up, which of cause is a toy dog breed!!

    9. NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE, BACKYARD BREEDER, PUPPY MILL OR NEWSPAPER, DON'T BUY FROM NEXT DAY PETS OR DOG BREED INFO, RESCUE AN ADULT DOG OR SHELTER PUPPY!

    Number 1; a 6FEET+ fence!

    Number 2; 4km daily walks

    Number 3; Experience owners

If you want a dog who...

Is large, rugged, and furry, with a wolf-like appearance

Loves the great outdoors and thrives on vigorous activities, especially in cool climates

Looks imposing, so makes an effective deterrent, yet is usually good-natured with everyone

An Alaskan Malamute may be right for you.

If you don't want to deal with...

A very large dog who takes up a lot of space in your house and car

    Vigorous exercise requirements

Rowdiness and exuberant jumping, especially when young

Destructiveness and howling when bored or not exercised enough

    Aggression toward other animals

Escaping from your yard in search of adventure

Strong-willed mind of his own, requiring a confident owner who can take charge

Extreme possessiveness of food -- children and other animals should not approach an Alaskan Malamute who is eating

    Heavy shedding

An Alaskan Malamute may not be right for you.

Frankly, most Alaskan Malamutes are "too much dog" for the average household. This is a serious working dog with tremendous strength. Very few people really have the knowledge, facilities, or skills necessary to manage this breed, or to provide the types of activities that keep him satisfied.

  11. How about: a crate, food and water bowls, some small gates, ( to stop the puppy from going certain places ) and you should also double what you got for toys. Puppies will not chew the same things as they get older, They will move on to more dificult things and more interesting. So keep the flow of toys moving. try one new toy every month. to make sure he doesn't get into the habbit of chewing shoes.

    all i can think of.

  12. News paper, make sure the toys dont look like any household items, and call a vet to give him a spot to get his vaccinations

  13. If you do not have a largish house with a big fenced yard - you should consider getting one - they need work to do and lots of exercise.

  14. OMG you are getting a Mal and haven't got a clue? Please please do NOT buy an Alaskan Malamute. This is a difficult breed to keep, the pup needs daily socialization with other dogs of all sizes and humans, you have to attend puppy training classes from the start every week. Unless you know about dog behavior do not buy a Mal. Reading your question you are not geared up for a pup let alone a Mal. This is a disaster.

Have you seen the certification of the hip x-ray for the sire and dam? What was the result? Have you seen the certificate for the eye test for sire and dam? What was the result? How old is the dam, how old is the sire?  How many litters had the dam had so far?

Did you have to sign an endorsement contract from the breeder?

For more info you better have a look here,

    http://www.icebaymals.co.uk/forums/

BUT IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD NOT GET A MAL BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT RESEARCHED THE BREED AT ALL
