Question:

I'm getting an "LE" error code on an LG dishwasher LDS5811ST.?

LG technician says it means a new motor is needed however the unit will pump out the water in the reservoir when a new cycle is started. The LE error appears after about two or three minuted into the cycle with no apparent pump motor sound. I'm wondering why the motor works with one function and not both. Sounds more like a motherboard problem, but I can't prove it. Anyone familiar with this issue? Thanks in advance, Michael P

  1. I took out the 12 screws on my dishwasher and there were so many wires that it was intimidating!  I just put it back together before I broke something.  Are the wires in the bottom under the insulation?  I didn't get all the way to the bottom.  Where is the motor?  Under the bottom spinner?

  2. Same problem, the repair man replace the motor but i alway have the problem, it order a motherboard.

  3. A couple of notes about this - there are at least three motors on this unit - the main pump, the drain pump, and the 'vario motor' which appears to control the direction of water flow through the sprayers.  The main pump is the one likely to go bad.  Another cause of the LE code is broken wires in the door.  The wires in the door get stuck in the black sound insulation and eventually break.  Sometimes, this causes the LE error code.  Check the wires in the door first.  They are located behind the large front panel.  It's easily removed by undoing 6 screws.

If it's the pump, you'll have to get access to the bottom of the washer to do the replacement.  Make sure you get the correct motor, as I said above, there are at least three on this unit.
