  1. You shouldn't have any problems if you do proper introductions in a neutral space.

You also need to quarantine the new piggie for illness and/or parasites, unless you are adopting from a reputable guinea pig rescue. These animals have already been screened.

See this link for info. You'll need to scroll down a bit to find the parts on "quarantine" and "introductions". Good luck with your new girl--I'm sure your resident girl will be very happy (once introductions are over) to have a playmate!

  2. they should get along with each other just haev to places for them to hide or else they will fight

  3. Of course; I have found that female guinea pigs get along really well with one another, as they tend to have pretty calm temperments. I had two guinea pigs that lived together in the same cage for about four years until one of them passed (the other is still alive...she's 8 years old!).

I hope everything goes well, and the best of luck with your new gp! :)

  4. She should be fine- Guinea pigs are very social creatures.  Do you plan on them living together?  Neutral territory (that doesn't smell like any guinea pigs) is best for introductions.  If you house them separately, you can still let them have playtime together, and they may like that.  (But you shouldn't house them together unless the cage is REALLY big.)

I have 5 boys living together in a big cage (Well, it's more of a pen then a cage, but it's inside and about the size of a twin bed)  and none of them grew up together. They're all between the ages of 2-3 years old, too.  They've never fought, and they seem to like having friends around.

  6. It depends... your getting another girl guinea pig right? well, i would first put your new one up by the cage and let the other one smell it then if she doesnt run away or make and mean sounds try putting them in togethere for a few min. and see how it goes if it goes great then they wont mind at all being togethere if not get diffrent cages!! =) good luck
