I'm getting braces and I was wondering does it hurt?

Well I'm getting braces really soon, and I'm pretty nervous, if you can answer my question that would be great!

the pain varies among different people. mine hurt a lot when i first got them on but some of my friends barely felt any pain. every time they get re-wired and tightened, they feel a little sore for a couple of days but it's not unbearable pain. if it starts to really hurt, just take a pain killer and you should feel better

I think it all depends on who you talk to.   My son is 10 and has had his on for about 6 weeks.   He just went back today and had "springs" put on the bottom to make room for the teeth coming in and has never been in much pain.  He got his top spring off today and his fake tooth put in and hasn't ask for anything for pain.   I think I gave him two advils when he had them put on but it wasn't like he asked for them.   Good Luck!

It will hurt a couple of days after.

Especially when you try to eat.

And the glue [[if they use any on yo]] tastes gosh awful.

It will be a little uncomfortable while they are putting them on you will be sore for a few days, just try to stick to really soft foods.

it hurts for the first week =[ but don't chew so much so that the pain can go away and the best thing to eat while you have braces are ice cream and mashed potatoes =D

I had braces as a teen. The only time they hurt was when they got tightened, and it did not last for long.

There is a lot of pressure pain when they are tightened.  You will get used to it though.

Just think of how nice your teeth will look when it is over.

Yes it hurt but, it was well worth the pain when they took the braces off & I had a beautiful smile.

It doesn't hurt to put them on but after words it feels like you want to rip them off. and tightening also hurts..

Lets say i got braces 9 months ago.

when they finished with my uppers one it hurt for and hour and i couldn't eat for a week. but after a while you get used to it.
