  1. I paid 350 GBP 4 years ago for a made to measure dress, made by a fantastic Greek man who had a small shop in London (where I live). Some people pay thousands but that really wasn't an option for me. Because I found this guy who was so great I didn't really look around at any off the peg ones but I have friends who have and there is lots out there if u r prepared to take the time to look. I take it money is an issue? It always is when planning a wedding! I don't think there's anything such as an 'average' cost, its just what suits you. Whatever your budget, I am sure that u will find something that u fall in love with if you look, and u will look fab! Good luck and I hope the day goes well for you. :)

  2. I got my dress at David's Bridal, the dress was 449 less 50 dollars off.  Then my alterations was 276 (Ouch).  So the one thing I would suggest is to budget in enough money for the alterations and the bustle.  If you like a dress that is over your budget, then make sure to as up front what alterations will be.  I wish I would have done that first, but in the end it was worth the look on my husband's face.

  3. $500-1500 on average but it can be less or much more.

  4. Depends on the material; if it's customized for you (fitting and if it has special touches like sequins); and locale (for me $400 would be average in my area, but someone in NYC $1200 might be average).

Traditional wedding gowns with train, even "average", will be the second to third most expensive part of the wedding (after the honeymoon and catering bill). It's a momento, and one that is often handed down from mother-to-daughter -- something old, with something new -- so don't be shy is spending a tad more on the dress.

  5. Why would you want to go out and weed the garden on your wedding day?

  6. A lot! About £1,000 I guess

  7. I got mine from David's Bridal.  It was $800.  However, you can get some simpler - but just as beautiful - dresses for around $300 to $400.

    Good luck!

  8. There is not 'average'. It's all over the board, though I think a TON of women go to David's Bridal which is cheap. Material DOES matter in pricing as another person said, but there isn't really an average. My dress is $1189 and my mom thought that was pretty good considering the amazing dress I picked out. But really, just go to bridal stores and try on ones you like and then check the prices, if you're choosing David's Bridal I'd say between $400-$700. But it all just depends on you.
