I'm getting my braces off this Wednesday =D?

Does it hurt when you get them off? And how exactly does the orthodontist take them off?

It doesn't hurt at all. It feels good and freeing.

When I got mine off, I bit down on several pieces of cotton after they had removed the wire, and they just used pliers to take the brackets off. After that, they buffed all the glue from my teeth and took pictures and then they gave me lots of candy!!!

Congratulations. Not having braces anymore will be wonderful.

It didn't hurt me - they basically pull them out with specially made pliers. The wire comes out first, then the brackets. You feel a little pressure but that's all. They sometimes scrape off the glue if there's a lot left.

I got mine off a few months ago and I was freaking out because I thought that they were gonna hurt really bad; and to be honest, it barely hurt at all.

They just pop the bracket off and thats basically it. You only feel a little bit - it all depends on your pain tolerance.

Don't worry about it - it really shouldn't hurt; just be excited that you're getting them off. You'll love not having braces, trust me :]

It's been a while for me, but I think I remember what they do. They use this light gun type thing to soften up the cement and then pull off the brackets. It doesn't really hurt, there's just some unplesant pressure. The only thing that hurt me is my gums had grown over a bracket a bit, so that bled a little when they took it off. If there is some cement still stuck on your teeth, they use a little wheel thing to grind it off. That can be a little annoying, but won't hurt much.

You'll feel so much better when you get them off that you won't even mind the unplesantness of getting them off. : )

Hey! OMG i get mine off tomorrow! I just asked a question just like yours lol..im so nervous that my teeth will be discolored but everyone said they wont! sorry i cant help..lol..ok well good luck!!!

(all i can say is that i scheldued an appointent at my dentist to get my teeth whitened for the next day)

it kinda hurts but not near as much as it did when u got them on, the ortho takes their plyer things and pops them of ur teeth and them uses that terrible grinder thing to get the glue off, when they pop off the brackets it feels like their pulling ur teeth out sort of, i probably just scared u but it really isnt that bad, good luck and congrats

it TOTALLY doesn't hurt.  have no fear.  they cut all the wires out and then pull each brace off.  

afterwards, you teeth will feel really weird. i remember thinking that my teeth felt very slimey!!!  but, it's just bc you haven't felt your teeth for so long!

really...you have nothing to worry about.  it def does not hurt!!

Lucky!!! i have to wait another year! They took some of mine off and put them back on, they just kinda pinched and pulled it and it came off. It didnt hurt me at all. Im not sure if it would hurt afterwords though since they put mine back on...
