I'm getting my upper ear pierced...?

Question

if I get it done with a gun will it mess up my ear or something?

i hate the gun. it freaks me out but needles dont for some reason

Well, despite all the previous answers I had the top of my ear pierced with a gun and it was fine.  No infection and no damaged ear.

The sterilised ear-ring sits inside the gun and that is the only thing that goes into your ear so I've always thought it was ok.

Had my tragus, tongue and belly button done with needles and they were fine too.

DO NOT GET IT WITH A GUN. Guns can't be sterilized properly. Go to a piercing shop and make sure you get it done with a NEEDLE.

its called a cartilage ear piercing. and yes it will mess up your ear. it will shatter your cartilage. and piercing it with a gun will leave a bump in the ear where you pierced it. the bump willnot go away for a while. about a year. so i suggest you to pierce it with a needle. its not as painful as you think it is. =)

Agree with first answer. Stud guns can seriously damage cartillage, and cannot be sterilized properly.

Go to a good piercing place, and ensure it's done with a needle.

I got mine with a gun but it is bad......it is better to go to a pro and have them do it by hand...but a gun is a lot less painful....seriously the only thing a gun doe bad for a helix piercing is just makes it way more suseptible to infection and adds to the risk of keloids......
