I've followed a strict training regimen and came down with a runny nose and cough 4 days ago. I've been congested and up all night in dry coughing fits. Today is the first day that my cough has broken up and I'm feeling slightly better. But still congested and coughing, just not as much. I haven't run in 4 days. The race is in 3 days, and I'm wondering whether or not to participate. It seems like such a waste to skip it. I'm leaning toward just doing it, but not giving 110% like I normally would. What do others think? Has anyone ever been in this situation? It totally sucks!

  1. hek yes man

  2. DO THE d**n RACE

  3. I would totally go for it.  You've put a lot of work in and likely been training hard for awhile now so you should be set.  Besides, I'm following a training program for a half marathon and the week before it, the runs drop off so drastically that you barely run anyways.  Try to get out for 2 miles for a couple of the days before the race, and then go for it and have some fun!

Running isn't always about winning, it's about finding out how strong you are and seeing what you can personally achieve.  Good luck!

  4. never give up or give in if your hurt or your sick its your fault. No excuses. If you want to be the best you have to go for it.

  5. There's no point to racing if you don't intend to win.

You can jog along, but it would just be a workout, not a race.

Wait til you can put heart and soul into it.
