I'm getting pet rats

I'm so nervous about bringing my rats home. I have every thing ready for them: food blocks, food bowl thing a sturdy cage, a water bottle, a hamock, carfresh bedding, a nest box, toys, and chew sticks.

I even but the bedding in the frezer just to incase there is bugs.

I was wondering what should I do once I get them home?

I've only ever owned dogs (that was three years ago), so i'm not quite sure what to expect with these little guys.

If theres any info to make my new rats comfterble for their first few weeks while I get to know them, please tell me.

Thank you

  1. The best thing to do once you get them home - is to leave them explore their new home and surroundings in peace.

Stick their cage in a low traffic area and dont bother them for a few hours. After this, if you want, you can sit near the cage and let them get used to your smell and voice.

After the first day, feel free to start socialising and interacting with them! Good luck. =)

  2. leave for them for the first few days just talk to them   on the third day stick your hands in the cage and lret them sniff you offer them treats this way they now know your smell and voice

put them some where where there isn't too much noise and distruption

then maybee start to pick them um and stroke them for a few minutes then put them down then for a bit longer each day
