okay, so the other day I started getting popups, I'm pretty sure someone in my family went to a certain type of website. Anyway most of the popups are from Internet Explorer 7. The problem is... I've uninstalled it, and somehow, the popups are still coming from that browser. I have check the all programs list, as well as the change/remove programs list. It is not there. The popups are incredibly annoying, and the missing browser is confusing me a lot. Another mystery is that for some reason when this started, I've been able to go to the google homepage, but when I type in a search, nothing happens. I can also explore the rest of google, but it won't allow me to go to the download page of the toolbar. I wouldn't be so freaked out if it were doing the same thing to other search engines, but ask .com and yahoo work fine. Just a solution to one of these mysteries would be great. Thanks.

  4. First of all please have a look at this earlier Q.

Internet Explorer cannot be completely removed

and still have Windows work....and when you say

    you uninstalled it ....you haven't.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

If you uninstall IE7 all that happens is it reverts

to IE6 ....so what you have done is to put on an

unsafe browser which may not be security patched........

I would suggest you d/load IE7 and and make

sure you have all microsoft updates downloaded.

This may well put an end to all the pop-ups.

If you do not want to use IE7 just follow the

    directions in the link above.
