  1. Here's your answer from www.ssa.gov.  Always go to the source, don't just trust people on Answers who are guessing.

When a child who is receiving benefits is adopted, let Social Security know his or her new name, the date of the adoption decree and the adopting parent's name and address. The adoption will not cause benefits to end.

    Congratulations!

  2. Great question.  If she is receiving SSI she will have an assigned worker.  You should call them and ask direct.  I also advise calling more than 1 person (you sometimes end up with different answers.  My best "guess" would be that if the child is receiving that as a death benefit that the payments would stop.  My sister receives that for her children after her husband (their father) died.  I know FOR SURE that if she marries before they turn 18 years old that the payments will stop......and that is just if she remarries, even if he does not adopt them.

  3. probably not. call SSI

  4. hey yaaallllll i just adoped a cow and i named her shannene Jackson......shes the **** yo

  5. No the checks will stop once she is officially adopted. Once you sign those papers then you take all responsibilty for her so her parent will no longer be responsible for the checks. Only in special occasions does the child keep receiving the money. Good luck and congrats!

  6. If the child is handicapped there is a possibility for you to receive her ssi, or there are adoption subsidies in most states for adoption of special needs children.  Check with your attorney, county human services or state adoption services.
