@ McDonalds i get shocked by the metal thing you push at the soda machine, and when i go to the bathroom and turn on the water i get shocked there also!!! i go back home and stick my key in the door, unlock it and as soon as i touch my hand to the door i get shocked and its so freakin strong i can hear it. i know all bout static electricity and dont want anyone tellin me i need to ground myself or anything, i talk to other people about this and they just laugh. Everyone i know touches the same things i do and nothing happens!!! i think i've like been cursed or im turning into like freakin' static-boy or something

IS THIS JUST ME OR ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THESE BIZZARE SYMPTOMS???

  1. You need to walk around with a lightning rod on your head, except within 50 miles of a thunderstorm.

  2. I get it quite bad too. Half the time I touch my son, we get an electric shock. About a year ago, everything electrical I touched would blow - lightbulbs, fuses. It's freaky!

  3. It's probably just caused by the clothes you are wearing today, or you shuffling your feet too much...I think humidity can increase static charge, too, although I may be wrong.

And if I'm wrong and you are turning into static-boy, how cool would that be? Shooting lightning bolts from your hand :D

  4. It's NOT the things you are touching that is causing the shocks ... it's YOU !!

What's happening is that you are getting charged up with STATIC ELECTRICITY .. and when you touch something that is EARTHED, YOU are discharged (and you shock yourself :-)

This is usually caused by a combination of static inducing clothing (silk or nylon plus insulated (rubber soled) shoes plus a dry skin ..

See especially the first link below

  5. Old Know All really does know all.  I had to throw away a near-new pair of shoes for exactly the same reason.

  6. It's your shoes.  Bet you've got new ones.  If you tend to drag your feet, don't wear shoes with polyurethane soles.

  7. It's just static electricity don't let it bother you
