  1. Shall we meet as I am going to Sydney on the 23 June 2008.

    I will leave for Brisbane and Gold Coast on the 29 June 2008 for 3 days.

  2. the weather at the gold coast should still be pretty nice in June.

    be sure to be prepared to pay ridiculous amounts of money for things.

    my friend just came back from a holiday up there and it cost her over $40 for fries, a hotdog and 2 cakes..

    i've never been there myself so i can't really say how it will be apart from that. but most people i know that have been there have really enjoyed it..

    except my brother. he went for new years and it rained the entire time... lol.

    just have fun.

  3. Take money, thats all you'll need.

  4. I'm from Sydney and I can tell you in June is quite cold. Thick, heavy jackets aren't necessary - however, pack a few light ones and jumpers if you prefer. Different story up on the Gold Coast though - since it's warmer. You can even pack summer clothing if you're going up there!

    In Sydney, you can visit places such as:

    * Sydney Wildlife World/Aquarium

    * Chinese Gardens

    * The Rocks

    * Luna Park

    * Harbour Bridge Climb

    * Taronga Zoo

    Up on the GC, it's all beaches and theme parks. Keep in mind that the tickets are rather expensive, do make sure you bring a bit more money if you're intending to go.

    That's all I can think of at the moment. I hope you'll enjoy your time here and have fun!

  5. Buy a Kangaroo s*****m bottle opener.  They are hilarious.  I suggest buying the Fodor's book, it had lots of good suggestions.

  6. It is winter here in Australia at the moment which means it can be cold. It depends on where you come from because if your from a colder area you will probably not be as fazed by it as us locals. In Sydney the temp ranges from about 15- 25 degrees celcius, which is about 59 - 77 degrees farenheit. So jeans and trousers and long sleeve tops - jumpers, would be good to wear. It can rain a bit this time of year so a rain jacket would be good to. Sydney is a beautiful city and there is so much to see. Some of the things i recommend are the beaches, Southern beaches - Bondi, Coogee, are accessible by bus from George Street in the city. Northern Beaches - Manly, are accessible by ferry, which is a really gorgeous ride across the harbour. The beaches are really nice and have some great shopping and eateries around them. The Zoo is really good. Taronga Zoo is accessible by ferry from circular quay in the city. The Harbour- it is about a 5 minute walk north of the city center. It has circular quay, the opera house and the harbour bridge and is a great place to take photos. You can also access the botanical gardens from here. Darling Harbour is a great place for touurists. It is about 3 minutes walk east of the city center. It has a shopping center as well as many cafes, the IMAX theatre, the aquarium and wildlife world, which are all very good. Ceterpoint tower is a good place to visit as well. It is in the city, easy to find, just look up. It gives panoramic veiws of the whole city. The shopping is great in sydney at darling harbour and just in the city center as well as around the beaches. Transport is really straight forward and reasonably easy to catch, and there are plenty of visitor info places so if your stuck just check into one. Hope you have fun and enjoy your time. Dont forget a camera!

  7. Gold Coast! If you want a fun time, go to the many theme parks and attractions around there. It'll be expensive though, and the rides will likely have long queues xD

    If you're going there soon, unfortunately it will be Winter. Might not be the best weather for beaches, which is unfortunate because the beaches around Sydney and Gold Coast are very nice. You'll probably find lots of shopping to do in Sydney, and that's usually the place where big events are happening (if any).

  8. im in port macquarie,which is in between them both.its about 10 degrees at night and 22 at day.whats your asl?

  9. At this time of year jeans and a jumper.

    temps around 18 to 22 degrees

    bondi beach is good.

  10. Sydney must sees:

    Blue Mountains in Katoomba (about an hour drive west of Sydney City)

    Sydney Fish Markets

    The Rocks

    Darling Harbor

    Opera House Tour

    Harbor Bridge Climb

    Featherdale Wildlife Park - a small park about 45 min west of Sydney.  Kangaroos, emu and wallaby roam around free.  A lot of hands on experience.

    Balmoral Beach, Bondi Beach, Manly Beach

    Things to eat - Kangaroo steak, pavlova, meat pie, sausage roll, chico roll

    Have a great time - you wont want to leave

  11. I agree, Sydney is cold this time of year.

    For transportation, try the tram, you can get a day pass for a good deal and it's very simple and convenient.  It goes in a circle so you can't get lost, and hits the major spots.

    Obviously you'll want to see the harbour, and I also liked Paddy's Markets, they reminded of the shopping you'd do at the state fair.  Chinatown was great for dinner!

    If you walk down either George or Pitt St, the two main roads, you'll have nothing but shopping to do!  For more alternative choices, I really enjoyed NewTown although the prices were RIDICULOUS!  But great stuff to look at!

    If you're looking for a real Aussie experience with kangaroos and everything you'll LOVE Symbio Wildlife Park.  You can pet koalas, feed kangaroos, etc. and it's a good price.  I liked it better than the zoo.
