Thanks, I appreciate all the practical advice, I didn't have a clue. I do know that the stables have hats, so at least I don't need to worry about that. Looking forward to it!

  1. clothes you feel comfotrtable in

    but wear bluejeans

  2. wear long pants and otherwise comfortable clothing.

  3. Try avoid jeans as they have a seam down the inside leg which will rub and make you very sore

Try for comfy trousers - don't buy jodphurs until you know you are going to keep going and its then worth the investment.

Same with a helmet - borrow one from school until you know its worth buying one.

Ring and ask school about footwear - some let you wear trainers until you buy proper boots - or do you have some sturdy boots with only small flat heel which would go insed styrups.

Wear layers so if you get warm you can take layer off.  If outside and cold take some gloves cos your hands get v cold

    do not wear bulky jacket

Enjoy - its fun but hard work

  4. Can't help you there! We don't know whether you are male or female. Why not ask Princess Ann or get a clairvoyant and ask John Wayne,Roy Rogers,or Lee Van Cleef!!

  5. wear nothing :P

  6. Boots, jeans, and a durable jacket.

    Good luck and have fun.

  7. jeans, boots and a leather jacket if you have one.

  8. A hard hat (AKA helmet), jodphurs or tight, soft jeans (none with a seam on the inside of the leg, it will cause blisters), short boots with a slight heel (known as paddock boots), and a comfortabel shirt (not too baggy, because the instructor need sot see your posture).

NOTE: Jods are for English riding. Jeans are more acceptable for Western.

  9. Dont even go there !

  10. Suspenders and a whip.  Oh, and a jacket, in case it gets cold.

  11. lucky!!! i've always wanted to have horse riding lessons but my parents still wont let me and i'm 15.

  12. Im goin for one soon too! im just gonna wear jeans and a jacket, nothing fancy!

  13. If you can borrow some jodhpurs I would.   Jeans will rub your legs sore - jodhpurs are that strange shape for a good reason!   I can see you wouldn't want to buy new til you know you want to go on with riding but I would beg or borrow an old pair.   A hard hat is compulsory - the stables should be able to lend you one - you could ring in advance and check.   Have fun - I'm envious, you have lots of fun ahead of you.

  14. comfortable clothes, sweatshirt/jumper and stretchy jeans or joggers remember you will need to move freely. good luck i hope you enjoy it..

  15. Well you should start to look through your old clothes and start with that.

Then you should wear an old t-shirt and an old jumper, just in case it's chilly outside.

You should also try and find tracking bottoms so when you sit on the horse you feel comfortable, but if you don't have any wear jeans!!!

But remember to have fun, because it's a great experience!!!!

  16. ummm....riding clothes...duh. but if you dont have those type of things, wear jeans (wont show horse hair well) and a crappy shirt bc you tend to smell really bad afterwards and you dont wanna get it too dirty

  17. you should start with a helmet followed by a carrot on the end of a fishing rod.

  18. riding pants or just jeans no shorts and a helmet

  19. Don't forget a cushion those saddles are hard.
