I'm going into my senior year of high school, and for "bright futures scholarship" it says I would need 75....

hours of volunteer work, but does volunteer hours count for anything else other than scholarships? Does it really matter if I don't do it, or is it something I should definitely do?

Well, volunteering in your community will make you a more well-rounded person, and you'd be helping people in need, so it's useful that way.  Many High Schools require a certain number of community service hours for graduation...and if you're trying to get into a competitive college/university, it looks good on your resume.  I would definitely do it, especially if it is a requirement for scholarships that you want to apply for!
