I'm just really anxious for her to join me because we'll be having our first child at the end of this month and that's also the date that I'm supposed to be shipping out for boot camp. so, i want to be back with them as soon as possible so i can see my little baby girl. so, what's the earliest i can get them with me? Thanks, in advance, for the response!

  1. It depends on your orders.  In the navy any orders for more than 25 weeks are PCS (Permanent Change of Station) orders.  PCS orders should allow for your family to join you.  If your school is for 20 weeks, the answer is no, she can't join you.  She'll have to wait until you go to your first command.

Advanced Electronics cover a lot of jobs.  Some of the schools are definitely going to be longer than 25 weeks and some, I'm sure, will be shorter.

Orders for 25 weeks or less will be for Temporary Duty Under Instruction.

  2. Yes, if you are able to get Naval Housing and be able to put food on the table.  Remember you start out at the bottom(low Wage).  And consider will your wife be mature enough to live on a budget that limits entertainment and dining out,
