I'm going into the pre-IB program in September, was wondering if it is as hard as people say it is...

I've taken a few IB classes in my junior year. I didn't take the diploma classes but a lot of my friends did. Well, let's put it this way. IB diploma isn't "hard", not compared to AP exams. Yet, you'll need to spend a lot of time on IB classes because most classes will take up your JUnior and Senior year classes, meaning that an IB class may take you two years to finish. After your senior year, you still need to take the IB exams. MOst students would want their Senior year to be relaxing, but if you're taking the IB program, then relax will only be a dream for you. Therefore, it all depends on you. But overall, IB isn't that hard. SO don't sweat over it =)

The pre-IB program won't be that much different from your past classes, but if you decide to go into the Diploma Programme the difficulty will skyrocket.

You'll do fine, I'm sure. Many people exaggerate the difficulty to make themselves look smart.
