  1. I used to work on a cruise ship.  The first thing you will notice when you turn up to an entertainment meeting of any sort, is the Cruise Director.  This is an eminently sackable member of the ship's staff  who can be guaranteed to whoop and shout and make himself the center of attention. An 'instant party person'..  All eyes and attention will be on him, which is the way he (and his employers) like it, because nobody gets to feel left out of things or awkward.    He may also appear as the guy who calls out the numbers at the ship's bingo,  appears introducing the acts in the cabaret, and (if you are really unlucky)  attempts to sing himself.   He will (among other things be busy trying to sign everybody up for daft games and  things like a 'deck quoits' competition, a 'guess how many miles we went today' competition, a ' see who can limbo dance/ wear a tablecloth/ eat a plate of seaweed/ dance the rumba competition etc. etc. And also, if your ship is stopping at any ports, he will be getting a take for any passengers he can sign up for a donkey ride/ shopping trip/ beach party / trip to the mountain/ trip to the plastic carpet factory etc. etc.  It is difficult or impossible to feel left out of things or alone with this person doing his job or act, because he is made that way.  And until he oversteps the mark and annoys the staff captain enough to be removed from the ship, he will carry on doing it.

  2. Cruise ships don't treat teenagers like six year olds.  Where a six year old will be in a very structured activity, the activities for the teenagers are not structured.  For example, a six year old must be signed in and out by an adult.  Teens don't have to sign in or out, let a lone have an adult do it.

So, where is this headed?  Basically to the area set aside for the teens to hang out.  Here is where you can meet some people, make a few friends and agree to meet them later at the club.  I strongly recommend that you go to the get together that is held the first evening after dinner.

Here is how Royal Caribbean treats teenagers (I don't know which cruise line you are on, but you will find most understand what teenagers like) ...

Our teen program isn't some structured set of classes or rules. We know you're almost an adult, and it's your vacation too. So we give you the freedom you deserve. You can join events all day, or come and go as you want. And we have two great places where you can get away from it all. The Living Room is a laid-back place you can just hang with your new friends. And Fuel is the place where the party is. Open 'til 2 a.m., you can dance, listen to music, or just hang out there.

  3. its not liek ull ever see these people again. you can meet people before you go to the clubs (like at dinner and the pool) you will meet teens ur age i promise
