How much money to take? What clothes? What is considered formal for formal night? How much are drinks? I'm going to Cozumel out of Mobile Alabama. Thanks to all that offer good advise.

  1. You know, gives me ideas on cruises is :  www.vacation-planning.blogspot.com  and   www.123cruises.blogspot.com. I would not give you this blog if it is not useful.  I got much ideas and tips doing for a vacation by checking into that blogs. It brings you quick tips and to know who to contact too, rather than browsing on the internet with failure and  I even bookmark it for useful tips because it has a new articles almost everyday.  Check it out! Good Luck!

  2. Jamie,

I know once you booked your cruise, these are questions which runs around your mind. I just got off of Carnival ecstasy and it was wonderful trip. I did my research and there were information all over the place. But I decided to put together a nice website for firsttime cruisers.  its called http://www.firsttimecruising.com

Check it out, it has got packing list, what to do, shore excursions and so forth

  3. Congrats on your first cruise.

How much money to take depends on how much you think you'll spend at the ports for shopping, taxis, etc.  You don't need much money on the ship, as you can charge stuff to your stateroom account, which goes on your credit card.

The main additional costs beyond the ticket price are gratuities ($10 per person, per day), bar, and optional stuff like excursions, shopping and spa.  There's an explanation of cruise costs in this article: http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/in...

Formal nights on that route aren't super-formal.  You COULD wear a gown, and some guys probably will wear tuxedos, but really any nice dress should be fine.

As for packing, the thing that's different from any regular vacation is that you don't need to bring beach towels (they're provided) and your cabin will have shampoo and a hair dryer (though if you're picky you might want to bring your own).  There's a cruise packing checklist here: http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/kn...

As for drink prices, beer is around $4, cocktails $5 to $7. You can browse the bar menus here:

  4. I loved the Holiday.  My family (8 total) had the best time.  We took some of the silliest pictures after dinner each night.  Eat in the dining room - the food was delicious.  I especially loved the Navy Bean Soup as a starter.  I think I had that three nights.  Make sure you can cover your ship charges at the end of the cruise or just bring a credit card.  Formal is formal - Tea length or long.  Comfy shoes are a must.  Flip-flops are the shoe of choice on a cruise.  You'll spend most of your time in a swimsuit and flip flops.  For dinner though, wear some cute capris and a dress-casual shirt and some cute sandals.  Have a great time.

  5. well so your going on the holiday right?

i think there the only one that goes out of mobile since i been on it like 5 times

alot of people where like suits and stuff to formal night.

how much money depends on how much you buy at your stops and whatever.

at least when i go on them you can buy drink cards.not sure how much though.

  6. Oooo I just went on one last month!!  Which one are you going on?  For formal night you could wear a nice dress, or skirt with a blouse.  Formal wear would be something you would wear to a prom, wedding, awards cermony, anything like that.  I went with my mom so she handled all the money lol.  You should take clothes like tank tops, shorts, capris, maybe a pair of jeans and such.  They have clubs there too if you want to go to any so you might want to bring some clothes for that.  You should bring a pair of casual cruise wear too, which is like a sun dress, or what you would wear during the day, except a little nicer, depending on how you dress.  Hope I helped!! =)  Have fun!!!

  7. I have been on that same cruise out of Mobile.  It was a lot of fun and I had a super time.  For formal night, a pretty dress would be sufficient.  If you mainly like to drink soda, you can purchase a pop card that allows you to have unlimited soda throughout the cruise.  Alcoholic drinks are about $5 or so for a dacquiri.  I would bring a fair bit of spending money, but what you need depends on whether you plan to buy a lot of souvenirs off the ship or play at the casino on board.  The rest of the items you may buy (photos, cruiseship merchandise, drinks, etc.) go directly on your cruise account and you can put all that on a credit card or pay it out in cash.
